3.5 great | fight the misfortune | September 20th 21 | This album consists of two parts, the first one being a collection of micro-tuned sine waves with layers of a "trumpet-like" voice, with melodies that repeat themselves like a mantra, the second part being the sine waves separated from the rest of the elements. Perhaps dull at times (especially the second track), the repetition becomes rewarding when the focus is put on the details of the layers of sound that compose this album.

1.5 very poor | zaruyache | June 7th 16 | It's not the worst minimalist music I've ever heard, but boy does that voice grate on the eardrums after a while. Even once you've gotten past the initial sense of annoyance and gotten comfortable with the static-sounding background instrumentation and repetitively droning voice, the voice *still* drags you out of whatever trance into which you were attempting to fall. You start to fall in, lulled by the quiet instrumentation in the background, then become aware of this annoying ringing sound and realize it's the same voice doing the same thing it's been doing for the last twenty minutes already. And then you can't unhear the ringing--like when you realize the bright lights in the ceiling make that subtle buzzing hum--and you become even more painfully aware of it. And then you move to shut it off, because why would you want to subject yourself to more of that? You don't. So you shut it off.

1.5 very poor | eureka | June 18th 21 | I have to give credit to Young for being massively influential on drone music, but this is just intolerable.
