I don't agree with the dynamics stuff. I agree with the produciton aspects. The production isn't bad but just makes the album feel homogeneous. Everything about the music is awesome but it's the same awesome throughout the whole 40+ minutes, which is unfortunate. Where a band like Off Minor will have 1-minute chaotic messes against, 3 minute catchier songs, and 5 minute brooding epics, this is all sort of the same sound on songs of varying lengths. With that said though I'm still really really happy with this. Don't know if I'm going to review it myself or not. If anything if you don't staff pickt his soon I will.

I don't think I even know how to staff pick.
The group vocals on Ron Ghousley's are so subtly brilliant.
And I don't care what you say they certainly lack the power of dynamic bands. I mean its not like they're straight volume the whole album. It just seems they are clearly not striving to create these epic crescendos and such and are instead just creating these plodding sections that fold in and out on each other. Its not really a negative dynamically, I was trying to prove the difference between them and Off Minor.

I guess basically what I'm saying is every song isn't a giant build up to some cathartic explosion. Its more based around this really trigger moments. Kinda reminds me of Dowsing in that respect.

Well then in that case 12345. Why didn't you put that in the review. That's a really good way to think of the music and is a pretty admirable trait in its own way.

I'm not sure what I would rate this but it's a great album. I love how the guitarists tend to use mellow tones with their distortion but it still comes off as being aggressive. One of my favorites this year.

This is really good stuff. They remind me a bit of a local band called To The North.

Here's a video of "Turtlelephant." The sound is really good until the drumming comes in. It seems that causes most of the distortion.

I can't stop listening to this album. Unless something comes along and blows this out of the water this will probably be my album of the year. Jesus. I'm falling harder for this than I did for The Pax Cecilia.

I wish that they had put the vocals a bit more in front in the mix, he's really too far back. I mean the added vocal samples on the Tera Melos s/t are almost as loud as these.

Let's talk more about this album. I'm having a hard time seeing any other album usurp this as my album of the year.

I can't see this going above a 4 for me, the sound just washes over me apathetically after I listen to it for too long.
