3.0 good | Alabaster Jones | March 3rd 17 | This is a weird tape, and that has very little to do with the content, which is good, but with the context this tape exists in. Adamn Killa is unlike any other artist in Chicago, due to an unbelievably slurred flow and an ear for some truly excellent beats. Killavesi has a similar flow and similar propensity towards production, and it's no stretch of the imagination to call her the female Adamn. I would almost be disposed to calling Run & Hide a ripoff of Adamn Killa's style, but all of that kind of goes out of the window when you know that Killavesi is in a vested relationship with Adamn, meaning he must be okay with this. Anyone else and I'd bet the house he'd take notice. It's clear the two are like-minded when it comes to music, and Killavesi doesn't do a bad job here at all. The production, handled by the likes of Blank Body, Shlohmo, and Hi Tom is pretty great, but it seems like both the production and Killavesi lose a bit of steam as the tape enters the home stretch, making for a lackluster ending. There's moments here that are enjoyable, to be certain, but it's a slight bit redundant when you can get what is essentially a better version of this style from her boyfriend (albeit with less singing).
