Revolushn hail us from San Francisco with this beautiful space/psychedelic rock release titled 'Further' . They describe themselves as a protest band on their website and there is a lot of evidence to back up this claim. One of the stand out cuts on their latest album is the politically charged ‘Dinosaurs’, which recently made the Hot 100 Next Big Thing list on Spotify and speaks openly and loudly about the worn out political system and those 'dinosaurs calling the shots'.
I fell under that 70s inspired, yet modern and irresistible spell of Revolushn’s sound and it reminded me of
Van Der Graaf Generator, subsequently
Peter Hammil, Early
Alice Cooper and
Frank Zappa.
There is a self-assurance and enthusiasm that permeates their music. The guitars and drums are magnificent and play-off each other effectively throughout this body of work.
A Stand out track would be 'The River' really because of its ability to evoke nostalgic emotions through sublime instrumentation, while 'Weird Little Minds' has progressive weirdness in abundance and eerie vocals but it doesn’t reach the heights the other songs in the album have. But it is followed by the excellent ‘The Man Who Knew Everything' , which keeps the album moving forward with attention-grabbing guitar riffs.
