Thanks broseph. You are familiar with this then?

Indeed I have been following Therion for about two years now, a relatively short period of time but some friends from college introduced me to the Sirius B album and I was hooked from then on
|
| |
i dont listen to much Therion anymore but i have been meaning to listen to more of their early material as i know its a lot different than the extremely over the top symphonic metal they make now (still good but it becomes hard to listen to after a while)

I stopped with Therion after Vovin. Thier last album wasnt so impressive but this on the other hand is terrific. Therion should get more respect in the Swedish death metal community, at least on sputnik.

this band is hella underrated, good review I've never heard of this cd though

You definitely need it Fire.

hahaha I forgot this band was anything but symphonic in the early days
this is cool though, much better than the debut

Really, really fucking good review. I've always wanted to check these guys out and now I know where to start. Sounds like my type of pure-fucking-'ballsout' metal!!!

Great review. The oldest Therion album I've heard was called Symphony Masses. I don't know if it's older or newer than this but I didn't really like it. Theli is the first enjoyable Therion album for me.

Symphony Masses is the album right after this. I am still in dire need of acquiring that album as that is the clusterfuck mixing death metal with jazz and other random stuff. If you like Nihlist and Dismember/Entombed check this out. If not you probaly wont like this.

well I notice that I have had this downloaded for quite a while. I may never had bothered with it, but I think I will give it a listen - compelling review

I love how the album doesn't open with one of those atmospheric intros so typical for death metal now; just instant, in-your-face blasting of simple aggression. Fools you into thinking you're in for a straightforward death metal listen - but then you start noticing how each successive riff is a modification on the last one, and how they all move in cycles, and the symphonic elements kick in... It's a very rewarding lisen, and just gets better with time.
"Unless you happen to be one of those pompous underappreciated in real life ***s(sputnik music elitists) who probably don’t play an instrument themselves yet still like to criticize other bands for their lack of ‘trueness' or pussification I don’t see why you shouldn‘t check this out."
I think most of the people who like this album (especially over the newer ones) would be considered elitists.
