Testament – Live At The Fillmore

The Line Up
Chuck Billy – vocals
Eric Peterson – rhythm guitar/lead guitar, baking vocals
James Murphy – rhythm guitar/lead guitar
Greg Christian – bass
John Dette – drums

This album was recorded in San Francisco during a live performance by Testament. The band is playing songs from their very first start to later materials. There are two other members this time, the guitarist James and the drummer John, and they are doing a very good job on this album. Chuck Billy’s vocals is also a mix compared to the songs, Chuck is mixing his ¨thrash¨-vocals with growling which sounds excellent in a couple of songs like Alone in the Dark. The album contains some of their most known songs like The New Order, Practice What You Preach, Alone In The Dark and Low. They sound very powerful as live band but Chuck’s vocals do not have the same accurate sound as it is on the albums.

The album has 14 live songs and plus three studio recorded acoustic ballads which makes a perfect ending to this great album. The ballads are Return To Serenity, The Legacy and Trail Of Tears. The most powerful ballad is Return To Serenity, it is not as powerful as the original track. This is a calmer version but it still sounds great. On these ballads Chuck has a female backup singer; this makes the ballads more harmonic and calmer. She is also a good singer but I not so sure about her name but I think her name is Star Nayea, I don’t know if that is a stage name or if it her real name.

This album is one of the best live albums I have heard and it has many of Testament greatest songs, all instruments sounds just as powerful as they do on the other albums and Chuck’s vocal mix fit perfect with the songs. Songs that I can recommend is Alone In The Dark, A Dirge, Practice What You Preach, Low and Return To Serenity. This album is one of their best I think and I will give it: 5/5

Thanks, I think that Testament's best material is from their first album to ¨Signs Of Chaos¨. I don't like their growling stuff.

I agree. This band has way too many live albums/re-recorded albums, etc.
