Release Date: 1997 | Tracklist

Dissecting Table is a huge name in the whole industrial/noise genre and also the brainchild of Ichiro Tsuji, who is believed to be head of the small UPD-Organization label. Dissecting Table stand out as the most rhythmically oriented of famous noisemakers out of Japan, and this album has some of some of the heaviest industrial to be found.

This is the fourth full-length release from this highly-revered Japanese post-industrialist. Recorded at UPD studio in 1996, Human Breeding has longer and more involved pieces that go on for as much as 10-15 minutes on a stretch

Definitely yet another great Dissecting Table album filled with metalic percussion, growling death-metal style 'vocals', lots of awesome, pounding sequencing and pure noise.

Least Mean Square Algorithm for Personality Alteration starts off the record, and imo is the best track on the whole LP. What we get in the beggining is the sound of breaking glass, somewhat distorted by synthesizers, and a weird and disturbing organ part. The we get a bit softer part, with the first part of the song repeating and Tsuji doing some growls in the background, while some guitar riffs can be slightly heard. But we quickly pass this, and the interlude brings us some noises and squeeks that prepare us for the best part on the whole disc. Around the 5 minute mark Ichiro brings some rhythmic keyboards and an awesome drum rhythm to go along with them, brining an amazing industrial feel. This goes for almost a minute, and after the guitar riff comes in the chaos starts. Tsuji delivers a death metal growl, then releases a full noise attack, and believe it or not makes the guitars and drums almost impossible to hear. And above everything stand out the death metal growls that go all allong with the noise. Another small and almost melodic interlude arrives, making room for the second wave of death metal and noise attack, that goes on until the 9'th minute mark. From there we have again some parts from the intro of the song, that quickly are covered by yet another awesome part of noises and distorted guitars. And as this would not be enough, towards the end of the 12 minute song Tsuji deliveres again that perfect combination of industrial and noise, that gives a very brutal ending to a perfect track. 5/5

Man in the Black Box is the longest track on the record, being almost 15 minutes in length. In the beginning you will have to turn up the volume in order to hear what's going in there. It all seems as Ichiro went out on the street and recorded all the sounds you get there. We have people talking (although what we get are just whispers) noises made by a clock, some strange music in the background, and as we aproach the 2 minute mark the surrounding noise starts to fade out as we get a few keyboard notes repeating, and some interesting distortions that go along. That is until we reach the 4'th minute, where the real song starts. For about 2 minutes and a half we have a very creepy sounding organ and a repetative buzz in the background. Basically besides for a small period of pure industrial beats and ear piercing noises the whole song is pretty light (if i can use that term) We have things here more similar to dark ambient, but still with that industrial feel (after all, Dissecting Table is an industrial artist). The climax of the songs starts off with Tsuji whispering some word i cant really understand while a distorted guitar riff accompanies him. Then we get a 4/4 count, and the noise attack starts, and in the background Ichiro growls a bit lighter then on the previous track. The rhythmical part is again outstanding, provided by the keyboard and drum machine, and after the keyboard sort of solo, we get a great ending with Tsuji screaming his lungs out while the noise are used in moderation, this being able to get a great sound from the keyboards. What we get after that is just a fading of the spectrum of noises used above. 5/5

Behind the Ethereal Thorns starts off with the keyboard keeping just one note, and Tsuji distorting some sounds in the background, for a really metalic feel. The weird combination of keyboard and loud noise makes me think about a fast train that is using it's breaks to avoid a collision. After the intro we get some mellow ambient parts, with more distorted keyboards, ringings, telephone noises (at least that's what i hear there), and even birds singing. Then the rhythm comes back, quickly covered by the loud noises, and that is what we get almost until the end, where the song has an almost melodic ending, due to the keyboard effects. This is the shortest and probably weakest track on the record. 3/5

Human Breeding Market is another masterpiece. Directly from the beginning we hear Ichiro playing the piano for a John Cage'esque feel, combinened with Emerson lake and Palmer on acid. The somewhat atonal notes sound simply amazing, while in the background you get sounds i cannot really identity (something like barn animal sounds, from cows to sheeps) The piano part finnishes around the 2'nd minute mark, and then we get a real beauty. Slown, dark and powerful druming. A distorted guitar keeping just one riff, and the keyboard keeping up with some great effects. And above all stands Tsuji, like a god looking down towards his people, and growling at them. Then as the same god, really angry at this time, Ichiro speeds up the tempo, and we get even angrier death metal growls, an increased rhythm, disturbing noises and keyboards. And the noises grow constantly in intensity, and as a result after 2-3 more minutes, we get nothing but pure and brutal noise. Simply amazing. And we also get a fabulous ending for a great track. Another interesting rhythm starts things again, accompanied by the distorted guitar, and surprising for anyone who might have expected a break and some chaos, what we get is the beginning part of the piano and the animal sounds. An amazing finnish for an amazing cd. 5/5
