Review Summary: Uplifting & unexpected Indie from Stockholm Sweden
This is fantastic indie stuff from Sweden. Their self titled EP was really good, but I figured it was kind of a one-off type album and I wouldn't enjoy any of their other work. I was wrong.
Coming in at over 30 minutes, you could argue that this is indeed a full-length album. It definitely feels like it.
Starting with the opener "Wake Up", you get this rejuvenating feeling with big layered synths, towering chords, and a soft voice singing "From the moment you wake up..."
The overwhelming feeling throughout this album is positive, uplifting and really a fresh look at what I wish more bands in this genre would do. Great writing and song structure keep this thing interesting all the way through.
I want to mention "Wild Things" as it really stands out from the rest of the album. Every track here has something great, but "Wild Things" has a simple yet beautiful chorus and you can't help but get carried away in it. The ending is a little unnecessary with the solo, but that's literally about 7 seconds of the track. Nothing to be concerned about.
"Why Why Not" is a very Black Keys type song with the flat vocals and the distinctly dark verses. This is probably the most out there track on the album. It's not a bad song by any means. It's just sort of a hard fit on an album like this. "Kick It" sort of follows in the same direction, but with a less darker, more bouncy nonsense type of flow.
Both "Need To Know" and "Silver Lining" have the most Fleetwood Mac vibes I've heard from a modern artist since Angus & Julia Stone. The airy production really shines through on both.
Overall, this is just a really well written, positive, enjoyable album.
