Some people say this is a straight King Crimson rip-off band, but I'm hearing lots of VDGG too. Mainly the vocals remind me of Hammill, but overall this is much less of a Crimson sound-alike than their debut. It's also really heavy.

Though not my taste in prog this is a strong album in the subgenre Heavy Prog. To me the melodies are too weak. But the music is strong.

Seems like only a few agree with me. "Nucleus" is so far Anekdoten's finest and best album, a true Heavy Progressive masterpiece. Paranoia, tension, and weirdness are the ingredients of this album and the title track is one of the most successful examples. "Harvest" is another gem, as well as "Book Of Hours", almost ten minutes of an outstanding, increasing climax. "In Freedom" can be easily considered the best closer of all Anekdoten albums, thanks to it's post apocalyptic tones and calm moments. The rest maintains the same levels, making "Nucleus" an absolute modern prog classic.
