3.0 good | Dmax28 | May 1st 20 | A great album but disappointing after the unbelievably amazing Tarot. Like they should be as good as ever really but something is off. This album's title track feels like a diluted version of the Tarot title track with some humor thrown in. Lean Into the Wind is a diluted version of The Devil. She's Back is a literal retread of Swampwitch which can feel like a treat for the fans but doesn't feel as endearing as it should given my urge for something fresher as the album progresses. The super fast fade out just as the shredding gets great at the end of Slave to The Riff leaves you wanting more but in a way where you think there really should have been more, something you would expect after the lengthy instrumental sections of tarot. One Hollow Word starts well but I want some more from the second half of the track. The 11 minute instrumental doesn't get the interesting until about halfway in, but it does end strong. There is less shredding overall for sure. Perhaps they really did try to make a more accessible sound for their major label debut. All that said, the track Hunger is a phenomenal banger that is a massive highlight and shows the potential the band can reach with this new sound. And TMHC is almost Tarot quality as well. It's their best production by far. To be fair, at the end of the day, I think this is only an album that suffers when compared to some of their other material. On its own merit it is a blast. Their guitar talent remains some of the best I've heard. The unique magical vibe their music creates remains.r

3.0 good | Vanquisher | May 3rd 20 | It's pretty good for what it is, although the creativity shown in the title track (ie. the banjo and other southern elements) aren't present in any of the other songs which unfortunately keeps it from being a unique album of its own. If they're going to make an album called Redneck Vikings they should at least keep the cool gimmick all the way through. Nevertheless there's several good songs on here

3.0 good | Johnny Maccaroni | May 3rd 20 | I wish I could get the jokes but I can't and I'm highly disappointed by the "fun" direction the band took with this record.
