Review Summary: FUCKING RIFFFFFFFFFFSSSSSSS
Riffs. Everyone loves them. Some are melodic, some are catchy and some are downright brutal as all hell coming down (or up?) upon your peasant head.
Descend Dethrone by little known Canadian brutal death metal band Deamon would fall under the latter. This album is just straight up pulverizing. Deamon takes a huge page out of their fellow countrymen Cryptopsy’s book. A lot of the riffs and slams here wouldn’t sound out of place on
None So Vile or even
Effigy of the Forgotten by the just as legendary Suffocation. The vocals are very guttural, demonic and ***ing tasty as well.
I’m not going to try and sell this album as innovative or original, because it’s not. But it accomplishes what it means to accomplish better than a lot of modern death metal bands.
Descend Dethrone is the ultimate salute to the old school brand of brutal death metal. The production is spot on. Not clean but clear enough that each riff blasts you in the face like an M16. If you like riffs, slams and Satan, then this album is certainly for you.
