Review Summary: Get it while it’s hot!
I have long awaited Dragonland’s glorious return, where they would reclaim their rightful land as power metal kings and conquerors. They are back, and The Power of the Nightstar shreds my face into a million pieces and I love it. The riffs and synth work are god-tier, easily matching Dragonforce but also ten times better because the singing here doesn’t make me want to jump off the top of a mountain into a vat of maggots. Is this a cheesy album? If you feel the need to ask this question you are clearly out of touch with power metal, this band, and reality but I’ll bite. This is indeed cheesy as *** and could convince me to punch a dragon in the gonads but unfortunately that dragon would punch back with the force of a thousand creamsicle blasts to my mouth. I shall explain why.
Indeed, the band blast away and rock it with the speed of a rocket which is out of this world. You will feel the gravity of the riff crushes. It’s pretty crazy in fact. Then there’s the production which tickles my spine and whispers “I love you more than life itself” in my ear, yet at the same time the riffs spank like a dominatrix. The riffing is with the speed of a fart on rollerblades and it does not get boring. As you might expect, the drums fart hard too or slap depending on if you prefer me mentioning farts or slaps in my reviews. I don’t care either way because this album shreds like Ninja Turtles.
I may be an irredeemable nerd for liking power metal, but this album makes out with me musically. Like I said, everything rules and sounds super fresh like new baby clothes. It’s just Dragonland doing their thing like usual, which ironically ***s upon many a power metal band. What’s most incredible is how the band haven’t changed one iota yet sound even better than before while bringing all the nostalgic vibes. If you like any of their albums you’ll like this one. If you like power metal albums cheers. If you like music you’re in luck because Dragonland have produced some for you mortals. Good album is indeed very good.
