4.5 superb | cjbizzlebizzle | December 31st 22 | A post-punk record that is a beautiful cacophony of high-pitched yelled vocals, noisy guitars, intruding harsh synths and electronic drums. At times it reminds you of Le Tigre in ways like on the absolute banger 'Celesta' and at other times dare I say it feels a bit spacey and like you are in some club deep in a space void, likely due to the groovy bass and the texture of the synth. The album peaks at 'Celesta' and 'Crime Fiction' but the blend of sounds proves strong for the entire records length and there are many layers to peel back in the electronic instrumentation here. Found this completely randomly and it became one of the top records of the year, for me. Goodbye 2022.
