3.5 great | Davey | September 5th 23 | Starting as a straightforward melodeath band with First Breath, Mercenary's Everblack sees the band beginning to turn into the melodic death/power metal hybrid they're known for with the addition of clean vocals alongside harsh vocals. While not quite as polished as 11 Dreams, it's still a great transitional album that bridges the gap between the two rather nicely.

4.5 superb | OnlyDoubt | December 9th 09 | Few danish metal-acts can compare to this. As a dane i am pleased to see that Mercenary can
make me proud of being such. Their later works made too much of an effort in being melodic
and put too much focus on the Heavy Metal-ish vocals of Mikkel Sandager. the band completely
forgot the competent growls of former vocalist Kral, whose presence on Everblack makes it
the highlight of the band's career, in my book at least. The only flaws on here is
"Alliance", the poor "Bulletblues" and the slightly irrelevant intro. Otherwise, just
brilliant.
