If you wish Soilwork had stuck to their sound circa The Chainheart Machine, this album is for you. Central Tunnel 8 is a fun, furious, and vaguely thrashy melodeath album firmly rooted in the Gothenburg sound while incorporating some nice keyboards and industrial elements into the mix. It sounds more than a little like the aforementioned Swedes, down to vocalist Daniel Scholdstrom being a dead ringer for Bjorn Strid's early harsh vox (rolled R's and all), but manages to pull it off with enough energy and enthusiasm to feel more inspired than a mere copycat.
