Of Legend is a post-metal/post rock band from Athens Georgia. They started their career back in 2005 as a traditional hardcore band, playing shows with the likes of Agnostic Front, Full Blown Chaos, and Integrity. After several lineup changes, the band decided to explore some new territory. Similar to such well known bands as Cave In, Of Legend underwent a drastic stylistic change. Influenced by such bands as Isis, Neurosis, Cult of Luna, and Explosions In The Sky, Of Legend began the writing completely new material, and the E.P. "Cleric of Samsara" signifies the rebirth of the band.
The cd begins with some intricate guitar melodies during "Asleep at the Edge" and builds from there into a heavy, atmospheric trip that takes the listener on a journey running the gamut of human emotions. Waves of guitar wash over the listener, transporting them to a place where time truly seems to stand still.
The music on this EP is undeniably heavy, but never feels overbearing. There is something here for every fan of heavy music to enjoy. Even more mainstream minded fans will find something to enjoy, as the band has also drawn comparisons to bands such as Tool and Mastodon.
Do yourself a favor, turn out the lights, light some incense and let Of Legend take you on a journey into their world.

Recommended for fans of: Isis, Cave In, Neurosis, Cult of Luna, Converge, Baroness, Explosions in the Sky, Pelican, A Storm Of Light.
