Review Summary: So much funky groove

Zac Garren has the uncanny ability to make music with his bare hands that always gives off positive vibes. Through six full- length self produced records he’s created happy, fun, and groovy music. His first two albums Sonshine and li were nostalgic and fantastic homemade albums. SICK(S) proved to be a major change to his patented cyberpunk sound but with his newest album Untitled he’s shown once again how happy and fun his music can be.

He keeps the lyrics as catchy as always and the track “Mother ***er” exemplifies this with the line-
It’s been a long time coming but it’s worth every cent
I apologize profusely that we slept on it
But its all goin’ better yeah it’s all goin’ swell
We’re gona ride this mother***er straight to hell.

But it’s the title track that is hands down his most radio friendly song. “Untitled” is simply a masterpiece and a stand out track in the entire Good Health catalogue. Zac builds the song around a poppy piano riff and compliments it with sexy guitar chords. Shakers and Zac’s classic ohhhing pull this number together to make it the best song on the record. I’ll go out on a limb and say this could even be the best song Zac has made.

Another stand out is the overwhelming poppiness of the first half of the record. Not bubble gum school kid pop but a more mature dance club sound. The first five songs are chocked full of techno beats. This especially goes for the track “this is love” which I’m quit sure I heard at a rave. But rather than being the softest album yet, Untitled has a perfect yin and yang. We always knew Zac was a fantastic guitarist but he steps his game up to a whole other level with insane shredding. The track “Van Tan” exemplifies his musicianship and guitar prowess but the instrumental shredding epic "Par Three" just blows minds and melts faces.

What is the true difference between Good Health’s tunes and the mainstream radio? When it comes to catchy lyrics and pop sensibility really nothing. Zac has kept the creative juices flowing for six records now and with each one having better production quality than the last. No, the real reason must be the passion and positive vibes that he gives off with every song. Mainstream music can hardly match with artists like Lady Gaga generating more weird looks than happiness. Alas I must tell myself that Zac Garren is too good to be on the radio. And that’s the truth.

This is forsure a funky little album. He has a much better voice than I would have expected, I'm kinda surprised he doesn't contribute any vocals to Strawberry Girls.
