The adding of the dubstep does add a different spin on Sabrepulse's unique chiptune sound to create a richer, fuller sound. The EP is a good start if this is the direction he wants to go down the path of dubstep meets 8-bit. Just because he wanted to try a new style of music doesn't mean he's sold out. Adding this new element does give his music a more definite tone, but what it has in tone it lacks in originality. It is somewhat repetitive at times in songs like City at Speed, The Rapture and Paradise.

A bit(lol) poppy for my tastes, but but most of this is pretty listenable. My only complaint is that once "Arcanine" hits things get way too dub-steppey (which is sad since Arcanine is tied with another for being my favorite pokemon ever). 2.9/5

I enjoyed listening to this. I have only heard snippets of his earlier stuff, which to me seemed a little thin, and lacked depth in the overall sound experience. I am all for the chiptune, but putting it into a larger narrative is better. Sabrepulse has done a great job incorporating some other subgenres of electronic music into this album, and the production quality is fantasitc. This is a massive step forward, and the songs flow together nicely. The only criticism i have of the album is that there is at times a thick amount of dubstep mixed into songs.. which is fine - but after repeated listens, can get a bit boring for my ears. If you are looking to buy this album and are thinking 'dubstep wtf is this s**t doing on here?!?!' please trust me that the goodness included in the other songs more than make up for it. Plus it's basically free if you grab it on bandstand.
