STAFF | December 27th 11 | Out of the monotony that is Excision's latest Shambhala mix, two things stick out that deserve the most attention: the inclusion of Skrillex's 'DnB Ting' where Sonny attempts to pass himself of as not only a drum & bass artist, but even more hilariously, British (he drastically fails at both), and the out-of-fucking-nowhere inclusion of The Prodigy's 'Spitfire'. Nothing to do with the switch in genres, but its placement at the tail end of the mix shows Ex seemingly hesitant and struggling to find ways to stretch out the mix's runtime (it's already a half an hour shorter than the other Shambhala entries) It also comes in and leaves just as terribly, dropped in on either side of silence, unmixed and abrupt.
Othewise, Shambhala 2011 is again the holy pilgrimage for brosteppers around the world, though as one would expect, it substitutes any kind of hook or song progression for the now-typical screeches and shrieks the genre has descended into. An hour or so's worth of noise for the A.D.D. child in all of us
