Bellatrix was an Icelandic alternative rock band. First formed in 1991 as the experimental Kolrassa Krokrioandi, the group later changed their name to Bellatrix in 1997, taken after the name they first used in 1995 for a compilation release in the US. Along with the name change came a great shift in sound, as Bellatrix tended to be a lot more straightforward and accessible in style than the vastly more experimental Kolrassa Krokrioandi. In 2000, the group achieved a slight hit in the UK with their “Jediwannabe” single, and as Bellatrix, the group released several singles, an EP and one full length album, 2000’s “It’s All True”, before disbanding in 2001.
