Bitch

Bitch are a heavy metal band from California. First formed in 1980, they are known for being the first band signed to the iconic metal label Metal Blade Records. Bitch had infamy and slight success during the early 80's for not only their name, but also for their sadomasochistic (S&M) themes, which included vocalist Betsy degrading a leathered gimp on stage. After a brief hiatus, Bitch returned in 1987 with the release of "The Bitch is Back", which signaled a much more pop, mainstream-friendly approach to their music. In late 1988, Bitch changed their name to Betsy, after the charismatic vocalist, and released their first two albums under this name in 1989: "Betsy" and "A Rose by Any Other Name". Both releases had mediocre sales, and the group then ended up going on a mysterious hiatus by 1997 after a few years of sporadic activity. In 2003, the group made their comeback under their original name of Bitch at the Bang Your Head!!! music festival in Germany. The group performed a few times throughout the following years, before making their official reunion in 2010, playing at the Keep It True music festival in Germany in April of 2011. In 2014, Bitch announced they were in the middle of working on a new album, which would be their first original release in 25 years. However, nothing has been heard of regarding the album since 2015. « hide
