A world famous film score composer, Michael Nyman is famous for his works on such films as The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, The Piano, ,Gattaca, and The Libertine, and his long standing creative partnership with director Peter Greenaway. He is also an author and a composer of stand-alone classical music, and is credited with coining the term minimalism while working a music critic.
