The four core members of Suns of the Tundra are Simon Oakes, Andrew Prestidge, Andy Marlow and
Mark Moloney. The band's most recent album Tunguska was released in 2006, supported by live
shows that included a major stage appearance at the UK Download festival.
During 2007-08 the band took time out for babies and other musical projects. 2009 sees them
back together and working towards the forthcoming album South. This will be an 90-minute mostly
instrumental piece inspired by the Ernest Shackleton’s 1913-14 exploration of Antarctica.

Suns of the Tundra (SOTT) directly evolved from the early-90s cult UK heavy / progressive band
Peach. Known to many as Tool bassist Justin Chancellor’s first musical venture, Peach
have a small but faithful worldwide audience of fans who quickly tuned into the SOTT project when it
kicked off in 2003. The first SOTT album, released in 2004, shipped everywhere from New Zealand
to Finland, via Albuquerque.
With Peach singer-guitarist-songwriter Simon Oakes still at the helm, there is clear musical
continuity between Peach and SOTT. Bass duties are shared by Andy Marlow, alongside original
Peach drummer Rob Havis, who traded in his sticks for a plectrum a few years ago. Also helping
keep SOTT close to its roots is drummer Andy Prestidge, who played with Peach label-mates Mint
400 and Cortizone. He is currently drumming with Winters and NWOBHM legends Angel Witch.
Mark Moloney joined in 2004 and takes care of the band's big guitar work. « hide |
