Wayne Shorter was one of the most influential and important musicians of the jazz fusion era. He was important as both a composer and an improvisor.After beginning his career playing bop, Shorter played with Miles Davis from 1965 - '68 as part Davis' second great quintet, and appeared on the landmark album Bitches Brew. He went on to join fusion outfit Weather Report.
