Yann Tomita (ヤン富田) is a Japanese composer, musician, producer and writer, best known for being the man behind the group "Doopees" who acted as a kitsch and surreal homage to 70's sunshine/psychedelic pop music such as The Beach Boys and Van Dyke Parks (Whom Tomita considers one of his biggest influences). Tomita is also known for his various and innovative experiments involving sound collages which incorporate elements of jazz, exotica, space age pop, dub, and hip hop. Tomita is the president and founder of Audio Science Laboratory label, and has collaborated with numerous musicians including the Boredoms, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and the Fantastic Plastic Machine.
