Ozzy Osbourne
Metal, Hard Rock

John Michael Osbourne was born in Aston, Birmingham in 1948. With friends he started the legendary band Black Sabbath. It's probably the world's first heavy metal band.

In the late seventies Ozzy Osbourne was kicked out of Black Sabbath because of his large drug abuse. He decided to start his own band called Ozzy Osbourne, aka Blizzard of Ozz.

At the end of Ozzy's guitar auditions a young man called Randy Rhoads plugged in and blew the madman totally away. Ozzy Osbourne got very succesful (it started with the masterpiece Blizzard of Ozz). In 1982 the band lost their guitarist Randy in a tragic plane accident.

After Randy's death Ozzy decided to soldier on and he recruited Jake E. Lee. The drum and bass positions in the band changed quite often. With Lee, Ozzy went through his glam period. This duo made two albums. Jake left the band because Ozzy released the Tribute album: which was all of Rhoads stuff. There are probably more reasons as to why Jake E Lee left the band.

In 1987 Zakk Wylde, who had been a great fan of Ozzy as a child, got the position as guitarist in the band. He still has it up to this day. Ozzy himself still sings and tours with his band and Black Sabbath again. Because of the tv-show The Osbournes, many people who never heard of him got a chance to know this man a little better, and exposing him to another generation of listeners.
