Bruno Merz grew up in New Zealand and since then has lived in France and the Netherlands and currently resides in the UK. His first album 'Through Darkness into Day' was a bedroom recording that started gaining interest through word of mouth. From this first album, the song Nine Sixteen was chosen as the Starbucks Pick of the Week and distributed all across the U.S.
Merz then recorded a studio EP called 'Departing from Crowds', re-recording some of the old tracks along with some new ones.
He has been compared to the likes of Nick Drake and Sam Beam of Iron & Wine due to the breathy, soulful, intimate vocals and the personal nature of the songs.
