In the late eighties he joined Coventry reggae rockers 'The Ring' as keyboard player and also won a songwriting award from the Nordoff/Robbins Musician style '89 competition for his song 'It's So Simple' which you can find on YouTube. In !991 he packed his bags and headed south to West Cornwall and in no time was fronting a rock covers band called 'Mind The Gap' and then playing keyboards for 'Rorty Guiver' before briefly reforming a Kernow incarnation of 'Doc Mustard and the Cobalt Kids'.
