MelancholicA started as a one-man project of Afshin Effati in summer of 2010 in Tehran. Swiftly after recording cover songs, the musical approach tended towards presenting the dark and sombre moods of doom and atmospheric black metal. Between 2010 and 2012, Effati would include Maria Zvyagina on keyboards. Corinna Martin and Safa Serenity were employed on vocal duties, however each of their tenures were relatively short-lived.
