The members of Sawhorse are people of the earth. Vastly different,

The members of Sawhorse are people of the earth. Vastly different,
changing and transient, they found themselves tied together by music
in Annapolis, Maryland, creating rich soundscapes in a back-woods
garage-turned-studio. Their dynamic post-rock takes the listener
from the desert to deserted mountains--and through every crest and
valley between the two.
Sawhorse is currently recording their first album, with Scenic Route Recordings in Catonsville, Maryland. This recording is the culmination of long hours, tireless rehearsals
and a determination to create music despite the hurdles of moving,
touring and commuting band members. Drummer Jacob Samuel Seaton
planted the seeds of Sawhorse when he began searching for musicians to
perform with his solo-project "This Is Family." After playing with a
string of circulating musicians, Jacob found a line-up, scrapped the
solo songs and began writing with the band. More than a year later
the instrumental album was written and two classically trained string
players were inducted into Sawhorse's amplified army.
The seven-person band has the ability to bathe the audience in ego-
obliterating sound and the dynamic range to make the same audience
feel as if they are alone in a near-silent cave a moment later. The
band members' musical backgrounds and interests vary just as much;
they have played in grindcore bands, folk groups and chamber
orchestras. There is a place for all these voices in Sawhorse,
though, and a niche for each specialist. The groups' organic writing
process allows varied influences to come together and dissolve into
one another, creating a unified sound where opposites complete each
other in the same way the water completes the shoreline.
The upcoming album will soon be complete. Until then,
Sawhorse will be playing sporadically on the East Coast, bringing
their song-bird melodies and earth-quake rumbles to the masses. « hide |
