Hailing from Hobart, Tasmania, Separatist was a five piece Death Metal outfit. Wielding their own impressively versatile style of playing, they've been described as Brutal Technical Death metal, Blackened-Death and everything in-between. Separatist, having released their debut album "The Motionless Apocalypse" in May 2008, are currently working diligently at expanding their fan base around Australia and constructing a more prolific name for themselves within the metal industry.Forming as a band in 2004, Separatist has been through many style and line-up changes; with roots in Nu-Metal/Metalcore, over the years they have transgressed past basic genres to become what they are today. Striking back with a new and improved line-up with the inclusion of Sam Dishington on vocals, Matt Carter on drums, Luke Ranson on bass and both James Brady and David Gilbert on both rhythm & lead guitars giving them what it takes to deliver acclaimed relentless and intense live shows.Since emerging from their recording process they have supported major international bands such as; Skinless [USA], Malevolent Creation [USA], Dismember [SWE] and Krisiun [BRA] as well as renowned Australian acts Psycroptic, Alarum, The Berzerker, The Red Shore and I Killed the Prom Queen, they have also headlined Chaos A.C.T. IV festival in Canberra and secured a position on Adelaide’s renowned Against The Grain Festival in September 2009.They have been a frequent feature in music magazines, radio stations and websites – with the inclusion of UK’s Metal Hammer magazine, Australia’s Blunt, BME, Sauce and Buzz magazines, Metalobsession.com, Canada’s Metalbite.com, 3RRR station, PBSFM and Adelaide’s Three D FM, and many more. The group disbanded in 2011, but has recently been continued as a solo project by vocalist/guitarist Sam Dishington and has since released their second studio album "Closure", as well as a completely rerecorded version of their debut album under the name "Motionless". The project signed to Subliminal Groove Records in March 2014. « hide
