Super Junky Monkey was a legendary all-female Japanese avant-garde metal band that formed in 1991. They are known for
theiranti-mainstream sound which often ended up in a beautiful avant-garde mess, taking various influences from the likes of
funk, stoner rock, heavy metal, hardcore punk and grunge. In 1998, the group began work on their next EP, "E Kiss O", before
tragedy struck when, in early 1999, frontwoman Mutsumi Fukuhara committed suicide by jumping off the balcony of her
apartment building. This put an official end to Super Junky Monkey, and "E Kiss O" was later posthumously released in 2001. The
remaining members did a reunion show in 2009 to commemorate Mutsumi, which relaunched the band's activities, as the band
members are now known to have occasional reunion shows.
