The Grass Roots were a fairly typical late-60s AM pop group. The band started out as the name for the songwriting duo of P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri. Together they recorded the group's debut album with studio musicians. Shortly thereafter they recruited the fledgling LA group The 13th Floor to become the front band for their songwriting. Joined together as band and songwriters The Grass Roots would become very successful, recording a number of Top 40 hits most notably "Let's Live for Today". Recently the band has recieved attention as former guitarist Creed Bratton has gone on to play a fictionalized version of himself in NBC's The Office where his past as a member of a very popular 60s psych-pop band is often alluded to.
