With the words, “Choke on your judgment, I’m here for the moment”, lead singer Josh Paul makes it clear that The Last Gatsby is not to be ignored. With the words, “Choke on your judgment, I’m here for the moment”, lead singer Josh Paul makes it clear that The Last Gatsby is not to be ignored. The Post Punk quartet blasted onto the Salt Lake City music scene with their debut album, “Hearts and Machines”, an intricate creation that lends itself to a new style of aggressive punk rock. Citing influences like My Chemical Romance, Blink 182, A Day to Remember, and Brand New, The Last Gatsby is fast becoming the glue between pop-punk and metal in the Salt Lake City music scene. Originating in late 2012 with Josh Paul, the energetic, Boston-born front man, the band cycled through several members before finally settling on the following misfits in mid-2013: The explosive and acerbic drummer, Jonathan Hoopes, low-pressure bassist Patrick Duff, and the unmistakably unique guitarist Gary Samuelson III. Within weeks of the new line-up’s formation, The Last Gatsby opened up for pop punk pioneers Cartel at The Complex in Salt Lake City. This event triggered a ripple of excitement in the Utah music scene, pushing the band to produce “Hearts and Machines” with Noisebox Studios. Soon after, they released their first single, “Coffin”, made an appearance on Park City TV, and together with NICE Productions, produced the official “Coffin” Music Video. They’re barely a year old and they’re already transforming the music with powerful melodies, biting lyrics and a determination to shatter the routine. « hide
