The band William Walter & Co. is a collection of central Virginia's most talented musicians. Drummer John Gilmore is a world class musician who travels the globe regularly doing both studio and live work. Nate Brown's drumming style is crisp, laid back, and always in the pocket. With busy schedules in both studio work and several live projects, having two drummers to work with ensures William Walter & Co. are always ready for the next show. Bassist Stuart Holme lays down thick, solid bass lines in addition to being an accomplished soloist. Mandolin prodigy Andy Thacker brings bluegrass infused lightning licks to the project with his custom made acoustic mandolin. The legendary Tucker Rogers on lead guitar is a tonal master with tasteful chops that blend in and out of any musical tapestry with style and personality. Keyboard player Adam Silvers lays down on the rhythms ala Hammond B-3 style breaking it up with solos that culminate in zenith crescendos. The music is best described as well written rock and roll songs mixed with improvised solos handcrafted in a jam style. Elements of blues, jazz, and traditional rock and roll are all blended with thoughtful lyrical melodies and catchy hooks. These songs act as foundations for the ascension to the next level in the live arena. William Walter also travels regionally to perform solo or with The Acoustic Trio. William Walter was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, where his first exposure to music was in church. He began studying guitar at age eight, and by age twelve had already started his first band. In time, he found ways to incorporate a wider variety of his tastes and influences - which grew to include artists from John Prine and the Rolling Stones to the late Michael Hedges as well as a multitude of poets, carpenters, and front porch philosophers. His original music catalog ever expanding and morphing, William writes of his own experiences and of the experiences of those who have inspired him. He has appeared solo and with the accompaniment of other musicians and good friends all over the United States in venues that include, The Bomb Cellar of Flagstaff, Brick by Brick and Java Joe's in San Diego, Liberty Lunch in Austin, and The Lion's Den in New York. He continues to make Charlottesville his home base, playing locally and touring regionally. « hide
