You may say that Lifehouse has accustomed to two crowds since hitting the musci scene. Much of the that can be appreciated by their first smash, "Hanging by a Moment." Lifehouse is a Chritsian band and hey not a bad start considering thet "Hanging by a Moment" was the most played song on the radio in 2000.
If you liked No Name Face, rest assured you will enjoy this album. The new album, 12 songs that have relatives sound to the debut, grunge pop/rock similar to Creed. The songs on Stanley Climbfall are as catchy as you'd expect, with remarkable chorosus.
One thing differant about Stanley Climbfall is the intessity level. Jason gets a little more into it with is guitar and the band kicks it up a notch. The settle into the Led Zepplin groove with "Spin" and sound more like Creed in "Anchor", a ballad. "Out of Breath" borrows heavily from Nirvana. "Just Another Name" sounds like a rubbery Beatles and "The Sky is Falling" is a cross between Nirvana and Crowded House. The sound doesn't detour from No Name Face, and the brief "Am I Ever Gonna Find Out" sounds similar to "Sick Cycle Carosuel" from the debut.
The album is a little more cohesive than No Name Face. The songs tie together more thematically, but doesn't necessarily make it a better album. I found myself missing the electricity from this album. This is a harder rocking album and of course may take a while to get used to, but a collection adder.
As for lyrics, Lifehouse shows the Christian vibe. They do not try to brainwash you though through subliminal messages. They simply give the perspective on life, universe, and everything else.
"The Sky Is Falling" is about complacency and was written as a eye-opener to the days following September 11, saying how people could too easily fall back into their regular routines. It also could be a cry of despair towards our easy return to sin, or the fear that so many never will truly understand Christ's love: "I'm alive but tell me am I free? I got eyes but tell me can I see? … It shouldn't be hard to believe. Shouldn't be this difficult to breathe. The sky is falling and no one knows."
"Am I Ever Gonna Find Out?" concerns the frustration of never knowing all the answers in life, particularly whether or not we're making the daily decisions correctly: "Patience can wait for now. I think I've waited for too long. You always gave a choice and the right to be wrong. All my life has been slipping through your hands."
Many people dismiss Lifehouse as a pop/punk band. I am still stumped as to what they are myself.
3.5/5 due to the fact that God is their focus.
