Darkside is an experimental electronic project lead by Nicolas Jaar. This EP Darkside is rather short at only 3 songs ranging from around 4 to 6 minutes in length but it gives the listener a great feel for whats in store on the full length from Darkside. I do enjoy this EP more in some ways because of its emphasis on detail.

Nicholas Jaar's solo work is more atmospheric and could be a movie soundtrack but Darkside usually features prominent beats and rhythms you can dance to. He even employs an electric guitar into the tracks to contrast the synth parts and electronic drums. The vocals aren't present as much as they are on Psychic. They are more of a complement to the eclectic music displayed. The use of synth and electronic drums alongside the guitar and vocals gives the music a very distinct sound.

This EP is very dark and experimental in nature but very enticing and satisfying. If you enjoy Amnesiac/Kid A era Radiohead or MGMT, you will enjoy this EP quite a bit. It is short, easy to listen to, and very cheap to get.
