Kick Ass Metal Bands

To me, any band that names themselves something like "Cannibal Corpse" or "Cattle Mutilation" are pussys trying to be cool and scary. The bad-assness lies elsewhere, and not in the fast drums and such. This might make sense to me only, but oh well.
1 Mudvayne
L.D.50

Their first album, and one of the greatest ever made. "Dig" is a pretty sweet song, but "Death Blooms" is totally my favorite metal song ever made. Ryan Martinie fucks stuff up on the bass and owns the song. It's dark and packs a huge punch, but it isn't fast paced and the lyrics are actually (atleast somewhat) clear.
2Mushroomhead
XX

An album of already great songs redone. Mushroomhead is the first Slipknot, but a hell of a lot better. Well, they used to be. When JMann left, they strayed a lot, but this album always reminds me of the super kick-ass industrial metal band they used to be. Solitaire-Unraveling gives me chills and makes me want to fight someone as soon as the heavy bass and guitar come in over the keyboard.
3Motograter
Motograter

This is the lead singer of FFDP's band before, and I still wonder why they disbanded. This is the meaning of INDUSTRIAL. They even made an instrument that is deeper than the bass (hence the name Motograter). Munity and Down are incredible, and the rumble of the motograter makes my brain explode.
4Protest the Hero
Fortress

Not as much metal, a bit more screamo sounding, but the skill and complexion set them aparts. Their song Palms Read is possibly on of the greatest and most skillful songs I've heard in metal.
5Moonspell
Night Eternal

One of the few dark and thrash-like metal bands I like (another is #4). But what makes me appreciate Moonspell is the gothic side of them. I love it. With the gothic synths in the background and the deeper-than-the-ocean voice the lead singer has, its totally more kickass than so many other metal bands, especially this album.
