| Bled Fest 2012

A new band from Grand Rapids, MI. I barely listened to them at all but they
seemed better than the other scenecore bands that were opening the festival.
They were honestly one of the best sets of the entire fest. High energy, high
emotion, alt. rock. Met them after their set, very nice dudes and dude-ette. They
only have a single out right now and are recording for an EP and LP at the

Young States
Went to this set because most my friends were psyched for this. They were
good and I enjoyed them. I was hoping they would've played 'Fremont'. They

Our Home Is A Deathbed
I was pretty excited to see these guys. They put on one hell of a show. All the
dudes from Pianos Become the Teeth were there in support too. I was just
pretty bummed that the crowd wasn't that big. | | 4 |  | Young Statues
Young Statues
I was supposed to see him at the A Great Big Pile of Leaves/Mansions show
in Lansing last winter. I definitely missed out. The set was awesome,
played 'Spacism' and 'Bumble Bee' so I was set. I met him after the show

What It Takes To Move Forward
Finally was going to catch on the great emo giants of Michigan. My friends
weren't too fond of it (their expectations were pretty high) but Keith and the
band still managed put on a good set. His wife was turned around the whole
set until someone from the crowd grabbed her and spun her around. I

Old Pride
These dudes are one of my favorite screamo bands; it was a surreal
experience finally seeing them live. This was another one of the best sets of
the night. They mostly played songs off of The Lack Long After and managed
to squeeze in 'Filial' of Old Pride! Halfway through the set, I realized I was
right next to Jordan Dreyer of La Dispute and Dave Summers right at the front
of the stage. Found a lot of video/photos of me during that set, including my
failed stage dive during 'I'll Be Damned'. Also met Kyle Durfey, David Haik, and
the rest of the Pianos crew; also, really nice guys. | | 7 |  | The World is a Beautiful Place And...
Formlessness
Right after the Pianos set, we saw another one of my favorite bands
perform. Keith from Empire! Empire! was there to cause some on-stage
banter. The whole set was one big sing-a-long, some guy in a You Blew It!
crewneck managed to get the whole entire crowd going. It was the most
active I've seen that stage during the entire fest. The set was spectacular,
played songs off of Formlessness and their split with Dear Leap. | | 8 |  | Mixtapes
Maps
Mixtapes are really the only pop punk band I enjoy. No one else in my
group wanted to see them, so I stuck around. The set was hilarious. The
whole on-stage banter between Ryan and Maura was great, along with
failed Papa Roach and Korn covers. Played some new songs and some old

To Have Our Hearts Emptied, To Be Left as We Came
It was along day of walking around from set to set and visiting the merch
area, we decided to see one more band and take a break. We didn't really
care about seeing Comeback Kid or The Wonder Years. GWAF are a local post-
rock band from Howell, MI. I heard some of their music but my friends were
hooked in by their flyers the plastered throughout the fest saying 'Wanna Get
Sad? Come YOLO with GWAF' (http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-

good, everyone enjoyed it, but we were more looking forward to heading
back to the car for a break. After that, I was going to catch As Cities Burn. | | 10 |  | As Cities Burn
Hell or High Water
It's a pretty surreal experience finally seeing a band live that has
changed your life. Their last LP, Hell or High Water, has done some magical
things for me. I keep finding myself relating to it more and more throughout the years.
Finally, seeing the songs live was pure magic. I was incredibly happy when they
only played songs from Come Now Sleep and HOHW. I would've been
devastated if they started playing Son, I Loved You At Your Darkest (I never
enjoyed that album at all). Belted out songs like 'This Is It, This Is It', 'Made Too Pretty', '84 Sheepdog', it
was fantastic. After the set, I managed to thank the guys from ACB
in person for making such beautiful music. We stood around at their merch table discussing the fest,
music, life, etc. | | 11 | | The Early November
The Room's Too Cold
Honestly, I'm not as big a fan of The Early November as I should be. I liked
Ace Ender's other side projects (I Can Make A Mess & Ace Enders Million) and I
enjoyed 'The Room's Too Cold' but never really bothered to check anything
else out by them (my fault). This was the last set of the day and everyone
was exhausted. Some of my friends either went to the Daylight set or
returned to the car. I sat back and enjoyed the performance, sang-a-long to
'Ever So Sweet', and bolted out of their right when they finished. Don't get me
wrong, the set was awesome, I was just exhausted from a lack of food and
solely running on free Rockstar energy drinks.

All in all, Bled Fest was spectacular. Can't sum it up into words but I had the
