JohnnyoftheWell 06.29.12	I've been there before many times, and it's usually pretty short-term for me. Either give it a rest for a day or two or (from a guitarist's perspective) play through scales and chord schemes and see if you can come up with anything cool/inspirational by mistake
raggedragamuffin 06.29.12	just don't try to force it. I rarely come up with anything worthwhile when I'm trying. Pick up your guitar (or whatever instrument) and just mess around for a bit. Play some scales, put some chords together, just let your fingers do some random stuff. Before you know it, you'll be thinking, "Damn, that was pretty sweet. What did I just do?"
ChuckyTruant 06.29.12	Yeah I usually just kinda carefreely play around, and if that doesn't help then try to step out of your comfort zone, musically, and if you don't wanna do that then my best suggestion is to get into a new band you weren't currently into

jdennis31 06.29.12	i used to use psychadelics to break through, but now i just refuse to sit down with the intent of writing something. works a lot better for me to just have an idea pop into my head, notate it, and then i sit down and build on it. trying to get better at lyrics right now so i try to always carry a notepad everywhere, comes in handy

jdennis31 06.29.12	thanks man. that was me. my drummer hadn't moved here from korea yet so i just played random stuff and then modified through midi. this was about 3 years ago.

jdennis31 06.29.12	yea. i used a set of td-12's to record that and pretty much every other home recording i have. my acoustics are just some pearl exports i bought in korea. still sound nice but looking for a new kit if we ever start playing shows.
BirthRite 06.29.12	cool, oh so you have a band huh? this isn't fully a one man band project? we should collabe im in the works of posting stuff online and i can send you the guitar and bass which i know will be sync recorded using metronome and you can throw drums on if you're interested
jdennis31 06.29.12	oh nah, not a one man band. my roommates and i used to play in korea but it was much simpler stuff. got really into tapping from andy mckee and minus the bear so started doing that. and i'm not a very good drummer, that recording was ALOT of editing on my part. i could do that same thing again or ask my roommate, just shoutbox me or something.
