My Top 10 Album Of 2007-ranked

Top 10, whats to explain?
1Minus the Bear
Planet of Ice

Minus the Bear, slowly but surely, became my all time favourite band. Never release an album that didn't meet my expectations and everyone of their songs is(very) listenable to me. I couldn't even state what my favourite tracks are because I love this album front to back. They've matured their sound without alienating their audience one bit, a feat rarely accomplished in modern music.
2Hot Cross
Risk Revival

Hot Cross - "Damn we lost Josh this might fuck with our sound", "alright so lets just make an post-hardcore album and go easy on ourselves", "ok sounds good". With that they made the best post-hardcore album of 07 and one of the best of all time. I love every track off this album but my fav would be Fatefully.
3By the End of Tonight/Tera Melos
Complex full of Phantoms

Tera Melos helped introduce me to prog/math rock right as they were being introduced to the math-rock scene. This band will be caring the torch for awhile and will probably help popularlize math-rock. Having "Last Smile for Jaron" committed to a album finally is amazing to hear. BTEOT side also kills it pumping out the same intense riffage with "Cold Hands".
4Damiera
M(US)IC

When I first listen to "Via Invested" I'd never thought I'd like these guys to the extent I do now. Taking a blend of Indie math-rock and adding some pop with soaring vocals makes for a fun listen. I heard they broke up right when I got into them and when I heard news that they've reformed I was quite happy. I'm really looking forward to their new album even if 3/4 of their members are gone but hey "The Disillusionist" is a good track.
5 Cold War Kids
Robbers & Cowards

Not offically released in 2007 but the album started picking up speed sometime before the summer. Brillant indie music and their live performance accompanies the music spot on. Found the band on a fluke while on some random bands myspace page and was blown away by "Hang me up to dry". For a farely new band, you can tell these guys have a bright future if they stick it out.
6 Giraffes?Giraffes!
More Skin with Milk-Mouth

This is a band most haven't heard, just your typical low-key instrumental rock group. The easiest way to describe them would be an Ambient Fall of Troy minus vocals, post-hardcore influences and a bassist. They match Thomas's intense guitar work if not more so. All TFOT and math-rock fans should check these guys out.
7The Dillinger Escape Plan
Ire Works

Despite the mix reviews of this album, very little bands are pushing the envelope as far as DEP. Even after losing their original guitarist and drummer they still manage to create an original, heavy album and staying true to their roots. People will always bitch about the departure of their original sound but come on 3 years of bitching is too much.
8Leftover Crack/Citizen Fish
Deadline

I'm a big fan of splits, especially when it's a band you really enjoy and one you've never heard of. I love Leftover Crack because it's my youhtful anti-cop ska fix that I only need once and awhile. "Baby Punchers", "...And Out Comes the N-Bomb!" both show how far they've come in writing music and lyrics. Much like the Tera/BTEOT split it introduced me too a great new band Citizen Fish a steller british blue-collar ska act. And really isn't that what splits are all about.
9 Four Year Strong
Rise or Die Tryin

This is one of those guilty pleasure bands, that you can't help but like due to its catchiness and oh boy it's catchy. Sure a band can write one or two catchy tunes but this album is littered with them. The one thing these guys deserve credit for is that they have some originality compared to others in the shitty pop-punk scene.
10Battles
Mirrored

These guys are leading the way in the math-rock scene and like Tera Melos will be one of the bands to shine the spotlight on their genre
