1000 Comments, 100 Ratings: Top 25 Albums

So I've finally wasted enough time on this site to post 1000 comments, not that you care. I've ralso hit 100 ratings, which I know ain't much but I only usually rate stuff until I own them rphysically and have listened to them a few times. But yeah this is pretty much my top 25 albums rSO FAR according to my ratings. Yippee ki yay.
25Hot Action Cop
Hot Action Cop

4/5 - This one makes this list mainly out of nostalgia, loved this to bits back in the day, not just cuz of the ass. They are
surprisingly talented musicians effectively mixing alt-rock, funk-rock and even a little bit of (gulps) nu-metal. There are still
some damn fine tracks on here, i.e. Why Judy, The Special.
24Porcupine Tree
Stupid Dream

4.2/5 - Everbody loves Stevie Wilson.
23British Sea Power
Do You Like Rock Music?

4.2/5 - Expertly mixing indie with post-rock, this is probably BSP's current highest peak. A bit of a hit in the UK but doesn't
mean we can't share the love.
22Engineers
In Praise of More

4.2/5 - Shoegaze/dream pop underdogs are brilliant at making slow, simple yet unique songs and keep building momentum, even
if they've been quiet for a couple of years.
21Gazpacho
March of Ghosts

4.25/5 - Gazpacho can make an excellent album without even trying, and when they try... just see Golem. A trip of sorts
exploring several 'ghosts' in purgatory and a less proggy approach, interesting stuff.
20Bruce Soord with Jonas Renkse
Wisdom of Crowds

4.3/5 - The Pineapple Thief's Bruce Soord makes an album that is as much prog as it is trip-hop with the ever-lovable Jonas
Renkse bringing his unique vocals to the table and Soord's unique guitar and song-writing skills at their best. Storm Corrosion my
arse.
19The Black Keys
Brothers

4.3/5 - All you could want from a blues-rock album, and more.
18Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin IV

4.3/5 - Stairway to Heaven. 'nuff said.
17Nosound
Sol29

4.3/5 - Serene, beautiful, blurring the lines between prog and post-rock.
16Porcupine Tree
In Absentia

4.4/5 - The song may have been sad, and about trains, but isn't it lovely?
15Samsara Blues Experiment
Long Distance Trip

4.4/5 - The title gives you an idea of what this is like. 10+ minute psychedelic jams that build and BUILD.
14American Wolf
Myriad

4.4/5 - I don't know much about indie rock, but I can tell this is golden. Haunting childlike vocals and great atmospheric
guitarwork.
13Amplifier
Amplifier

4.5/5 - A mind-numbing assault of riffs and walls-of-guitar. How the hell did they manage to top this?
12Anathema
Weather Systems

4.6/5 - I owe a lot to this album as it was my 'breakthrough' into 'decent' music, pretty plebeian, I know. The Beginning and the
End must be their best song.
11 Mother's Cake
Creation's Finest

4.7/5 - Progressive funk rock. It shouldn't work but it does, brilliantly. This trio of 20-something musicians play as well as Led
Zeppelin at their peak.
10Pink Floyd
Wish You Were Here

4.7/5 - not as good as good as DSotM for me, but an incredible experience none the less.
9The Pineapple Thief
Someone Here is Missing

4.7/5 - The band completely turns their sound upside down to make a stunning mix of prog, alt-rock and electronica.
8Amplifier
The Octopus

4.7/5 - One of the best prog albums this side of the year 2000. Interstellar's riffs will blast you into space and Forever & More
(one of the best closers I've ever heard) will send you straight into the sun.
7Hot Action Cop
2009 EP

4.75/5 - Bit of nostalgia here. Forget their juvenile debut, this is a much more mature collection of impressive alt-rock. Closer is
phenomenal.
6Santeria
Year of the Knife

4.8/5 - Heard of Santeria? Thought not. One of the best hard rock albums of the 21st century, buried in Louisiana.
5Anathema
Judgement

4.9/5 - Anathema's first masterpiece. How they capture emotions so well is past me.
4Solterra
Umbra

5/5 - Who ever thought a user project could be so good? Instruments are extremely tight, every song is virtually flawless.
Tanner Lichtly must be one of the world's most promising new guitarists.
3The Pineapple Thief
Little Man

5/5 - TPT's magnum opus. Bleak, sorrowful, beautifully subtle.
2Pink Floyd
The Dark Side of the Moon

5/5 - Pretty strong contender for the best album of all time.
1 Anathema
We're Here Because We're Here

5/5 - My favourite album of all time. Anathema finally reach the peak of everything they'd been working towards for 20 years.
Overflowing with emotion, takes you (me) to a place like no other.
