08.16.13 | I has really similar scores to yours in the SAT and ACT and I'm at a school called Colorado College. You may not have actually heard of it, but don't let that deter you: it's really strong academically (usually in the top LACs in the country, and admissions are super competitive), and in the one year I've spent here I've had the time of my life and I'm psyched for the next three years.
But really, it all depends on who you are. For example, I chose CC over other schools because it has a really strong geology program, I love Colorado, and its weird course system really works for me. If you think an Ivy would be a better fit, or that you'd have a better time at a public school, then go for that. Just make sure to do a ton of research: this is not a decision to be made lightly. Talk to parents, college counselors, etc. |

08.16.13 | go to class, get work done early, party like its 1999, rinse and repeat.
college is all about balancing the work and the play. to much of either makes for a lot of regrets |

08.16.13 | GO TO CLASS
trust me on this, you can get away with it in HS like its nbd but seriously you're paying to go to these classes and no one cares if your not attending so its easy to just stay back with your friends to smoke or go out. missing more then 2 days of the same class (without a legit excuse) is generally gonna drop your grade in some way |

08.16.13 | The important thing is to take time and really think about what to choose. First and foremost, choose something YOU like. I already lost track of how many people apply to a course that they think has "high employment rate" and end up realizing it totally sucks.
That said, you still need to choose something that has a "future", so to speak. I wouldn't know what to recommend if you're more into sciences, but I've chosen Marketing, it's something important as of today and will be even more in the future.
As for the experience... well... just have fun, man. Some people say you should concentrate on studies and finish the course with a high average and early. Other s would suggest goofing off and smoking weed and playing games all day is the path to enlightenment. I call bullshit on both, I partied pretty hard and still managed to finish in 3 years (course's duration). You just need to find a balance.
Oh, and chicks. Bang as many as you can, college girls are fucking crazy. |

08.16.13 | Best advice I can give is don't assume that because you're an X major you're going to get an X job. You can do great in school and graduate at the top of your class, but unless you really get involved in your field and start networking/doing research/internships, there's a possibility you could end up at a desk job for the rest of your life doing mindless bitch work.
Find something to be passionate about that you can make a living doing and pursue the FUCK out of it, and if you fail - hey man you tried and that's better than most people can say. |

08.16.13 | Some good advice here, but really you shouldn't come to music boards for life problems.
I enjoyed my stay in college, went to one next to my home town. I didn't go for learning though, but for people, and my grades suffered accordingly. It was a wonderful experience and I made a lot of friends/connections and even grew up a bit, but I wished I focused more on school.
I plan on going back soon (next semester/next year) and doing it properly. I recommend going to class, living on campus, and not getting too tied up in serious relationships. |
FerinusCarnifexVox
08.16.13 | Do you prefer a big or small college? Do you want private or public (private will give you more off considering your Act and
Sat). If you have a specific major in mind it helps narrow options down. How many hours do you want to be within your home?
These will help with the where. The when to apply is preferably the first half of this school year (so before January). You get
the most money and highest acceptance chances at a school during early enrollment.
Do not declare undecided. Pick a major in a college you know you are interested in (business, liberal arts, nursing, etc.).
Easier to switch between majors on the same college than from one field to another. You don't lose many credit hors that way
either. Most majors don't have major specic classes until late Sophmpore or early Junior year, switching before within a
college men's you have all the same gen eds. |

08.16.13 | Ohio State! Best decision I have ever made. I'm from Chicago and basically got in state tuition because of my 32 ACT. I was in the honors engineering program first year and loved it. Great school. Great people. |

FerinusCarnifexVox
08.16.13 | Going of what toxin said. Apply to 1 stretch school (a school you want to attend, but you think are out of your league). Appy to 2-3 schools you are interested in and should be able to, and maybe 2 safeties which are schools you can easily get in. They might offer a full ride at an act 33 mattering on what they teach. |
FerinusCarnifexVox
08.16.13 | Don't do liberal arts... Especially like a degree in Ancient Summerian Culture, or anything to that effect. If you do you have to be the number one expert in that field to be worth a dam and actually get paid a real salary. |

08.16.13 | don't know what college to go to....better ask sputnik. |
NarkalepticNinja
08.16.13 | 1) Remember why you are going to college in the first place, the whole college experience is great, but remember, grades and going to class are probably the most important part of college
2) Don't hold yourself to one girl (This does not mean cheat), date around and get to know women.
3) go to the freshman events that your college will sponsor, one of the easiest ways to make friends at college.
4) You WILL experience alcohol and drugs in college, but don't be that idiot who passes out on the floor and misses your class because of a hangover the next day
5) Make friends with your professors and other faculty members, it makes college so much easier for you
6) Don't cram for tests, it works in High School but if you try that in College (at least after the first semester) you are on the fast track to a low GPA
7) GO TO A Gym, you will get fat in college if you don't excercise, the freshman 15 continues throughout all of college, not just freshman year
8) Find a social group you will enjoy and join it. Easy way to make friends and network with other people on campus
9) Figure out what classes you can take in college that are just GPA boosters and make sure you take those classes (Example: Theater Appreciation)
10) Learn how to do your own laundry and iron your clothes (I make a profit off of doing this in college)
11) Avoid 8am classes unless you are just the type of person who can and likes to wake up early because you will probably be up till about 1 or 2am on most nights.
12) Be cordial to any and all roommates you will have, the last thing you want is a disgruntles roommate
13) Do sporting events, fantastic way to network, and you really should support your school in all endeavors (even if they suck. Example: Baylor football early 2000's)
14) Get involved in the local community. like soup kitchens and such, another fantastic way to network (and meet plenty of cute girls)

08.16.13 | Knock out your core/required classes asap. Try to double up on requirements so if one class can knock off two required courses then go for it.
