08.18.13 | Damn gotta read 5. Check out Neverwhere, American Gods and Stardust by Neil Gaiman for some fucking good (non-childish) fantasy. Also the Demonata series by Darren Shan. |

08.18.13 | You know how sometimes a book is so good that you don't want it to end? With fantasy/scifi series, you don't have to deal with that for months! These are all good, and if you were to read them all, you wouldn't have to make a list like this for another two years. (I listed them in order of my preference. Wheel of Time is the best, and Malazan Book of the Fallen is good, but all the rest are better.)
Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time
George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire
JRR Tolkein's Lord of the Rings (Obvious rec but who knows?)
Bernard Cornwell - The Saxon Series
Robin Hobb's Realm of the Elderling
Frank Herbert's Dune
Steven Erikson's The Malazan Book of the Fallen |

09.19.13 | Fuck yeah, love most of the books on that list. The Brothers Karamazov is hard to get through at points, but probably the most rewarding book I've read. Dave Eggers first book, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, is his best, I think.
If you want an awesome modern (presently living and writing) sci-fi author, you should check out Richard Morgan. Altered Carbon first. So good. |
