Winesburgohio
10.06.13 | no real order except for one but these are my ten preferred eps (at a pinch) |
Rowan5215
10.06.13 | Amazing show dude, keep going with it. List needs Clyde Bruckman hard |
Havey
10.06.13 | hi |
Havey
10.06.13 | oo ernst karel nice |
Winesburgohio
10.06.13 | hello favourite Scandinavian (tied with Gian)
yeah sooooo good that and 4 walls eased me into the Field Recording world |
Winesburgohio
10.06.13 | I will Rowan, I'm too addicted to stop haha. yeah that episode is gr8 but i didn't want to seem too biased in favour of Darin Morgan (even though i'm guilty as charged) |
Rowan5215
10.06.13 | No need to feel biased dude he's the best writer the show ever had
Tbh I'm not a huge fan of 3 and including it over Clyde Bruckman is blasphemy to me. It's War of the
Coprohages* btw. |
Winesburgohio
10.06.13 | ARGH FUCK and i call myself a fan ~sheepish amendment time~
oh weird i think it's so charming - the self-deprecation, the coincidences, Scully at the supermarket, the witty quips and inspired guest star choices ahh i'm smiling just thinking about it. And while i love Clyde Bruckman i was weirdly unaffected by it - loved the villain though, fascinating character, wish they'd elongated the episode to delve deeper into him in some ways |
Rowan5215
10.06.13 | Been a while since I saw War tbh but I thought it was easily the weakest of Darin's episodes. Even he admitted that it didn't have a proper resolution and no-one really knew what was going on (even more so than usual for the show) which was annoying. Clyde Bruckman, on the other hand, is my favourite episode of the show and probably some of the best 45 minutes of television that I've ever seen - the tragedy of the character balanced against the comedy he provided and the way everything played out is nothing short of genius. I do agree that the villain should have been delved into more though.
On another note though, if you have yet to see Season 5 then you have one of the best episodes of the show, Bad Blood, coming up. Not to mention the two episodes that the actor who plays Mulder wrote and directed, both of which are absolutely hilarious. |
zakalwe
10.06.13 | What was the one with the fella who could squeeze through vents and all sorts? Scared me shitless. |
Rowan5215
10.06.13 | ^ Squeeze, and yeah classic episode for sure. |
Havey
10.06.13 | dude gian isn't scandinavian tho i mean he has lived in sweden for a few months/weeks/years?? his name is italian but he's from Panama or something i don't even know if he has citizenship or nationality anywhere he's like all over the world at the same time idk it's weird |
Keyblade
10.06.13 | he's an ~avant-teen~ citizen don't u take that away from him |
ExcentrifugalForz
10.06.13 | Home and Quagmire are my favorite episodes.
First Person Shooter is by far the worst. |
Gwyn.
10.06.13 | That one with the genie was pretty funny
haven't seen it in years |
Trebor.
10.06.13 | I just started watching
The Jersey Devil is the worst one I've seen so far
Fuckin it's like the writers just took a anthro 101 class and wanted to make a statement |
mursu
10.06.13 | I've got the collector's edition box set and I still haven't watched it all yet |
YoYoMancuso
10.06.13 | such a freakin good show
Best episode is either Pusher or Leonard Betts
Treb: Season 1 is kinda shitty but seasons 2 through 6 are near flawless.
My top episodes look sorta like this (in no order)
Beyond The Sea
Duane Barry
Humbug
Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose
Pusher
Wetwired
Unruhe
Leonard Betts
The Post-Modern Prometheus
Bad Blood
The Pine Bluff Variant
Tithonus
Monday
The Unnatural
Field Trip
X-Cops
|
DrGonzo1937
10.06.13 | Anything past season 4 is utter garbage. But it's good fun. |
Winesburgohio
10.07.13 | oh lol i got The Jersey Devil confused with Squeeze fuck i knew i shouldn't have relied on my faulty memory
and umm Gian is a citizen of my heart so f u |
Trebor.
10.07.13 | Squeeze rules hard |
Rowan5215
10.07.13 | Squeeze is amazing yeah
Worst episode is the one with the title in Spanish with the ending that had the fucking cats what the fuck was that |
Winesburgohio
10.07.13 | the one set in Chinatown with the inscrutable oriental types is sooooo fucking terrible too, i mean how lazily written can you get. |
ExcentrifugalForz
10.07.13 | the one where they hang out with the circus freak show
ohhh ya! |
Parallels
10.07.13 | fucking love X-files
my favs are:
dreamland
bad blood - best episode ever http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IST1OlesWTg
squeeze [93524658]
ice
drive (w/ bryan cranston, episode that helped make Breaking Bad possible)
x-cops intro
arcadia - the scene when mulder tells scully to make him a sandwich
small potatoes
and basically the entire main story arc of seasons 2,3 and 4
|
YoYoMancuso
10.07.13 | "Anything past season 4 is utter garbage"
Dude, season 6 is the second-best season |
DrGonzo1937
10.07.13 | haha!! Nice trollin' mate. The show was showing signs of age and you could tell it was getting lost. If you like wasting your time with stupid plotlines and filler than anything past season 4 is for you. |
Rowan5215
10.07.13 | Yeah nah, only Season 9 is filler everything before that is good to great |
YoYoMancuso
10.07.13 | Imo this is the ranking
Season 3 (Gilligan and Morgan in the same season, non-negotiable)
Season 6 (Some of the best standalones are in this season, Drive, Triangle, Field Trip, Tithonus, Arcadia, The Unnatural, I
could go on)
Season 2 (Best mythology storyline, straight-up scariest season)
Season 5 (Probably the most balanced season, only one truly bad episode)
Season 4 (This contains Gilligan's best scripts but mythology is strangely lacking)
Season 8 (First half of this season is really good, Via Negative especially)
Season 1 (Beyond The Sea, Darkness Falls, Squeeze/Tooms, Eve, Ice and the mythology. The rest is either mediocre or
shit)
Season 7 (Only like 4 or 5 good episodes in this one)
Season 9 (Embarassing)
|
Rowan5215
10.08.13 | Just wondering, what do you consider to be the only bad episode in Season 5? Other than that I pretty much agree, yeah. |
Parallels
10.08.13 | season 9 was so bad i just wanted them to kill scully and end it there, bad guys win |
ExcentrifugalForz
10.08.13 | I wonder if they ever will do that 3rd movie they used to talk about. |
YoYoMancuso
10.08.13 | Rowan: Schizogeny. It's pretty boring. |
Rowan5215
10.09.13 | Ah yeah Schizogeny is pretty stupid haha agreed
"I wonder if they ever will do that 3rd movie they used to talk about."
They've been saying that they all want to do another movie for ages but apparently the producers or something aren't interested at all. Really annoying because I WANT SOME FUCKING CLOSURE |
demigod!
10.09.13 | i like this show quite a bit, i need to watch it more but i can't help but feel as if the early episodes are kinda cheesy and lolbad at points. |
Parallels
10.09.13 | the first movie was alright, but it ruined the TV show. the second was complete crap. |
Rowan5215
10.09.13 | @andcas Probably not but personally I like both, first was great and the second one got way too much hate
@demi The cheesiness is part of the show's charm and yeah there are a few that are pretty lolbad |
TMobotron
10.09.13 | really fun show, love duchovny too. And yeah that early 90s cheese is definitely part of the charm for me. |
Rowan5215
10.09.13 | Duchovny > |
YoYoMancuso
10.10.13 | Wow what's with the hate on Season 6, has anyone seen Triangle/Tithonus/The Unnatural/pretty much any other Monster of the week from that season |
Parallels
10.10.13 | the only bad seasons are 7 and 9. Even those have a few goodies tho |
YoYoMancuso
10.10.13 | agreed, Hungry from season 7 is one of my absolute favorites |
Insurrection
10.10.13 | my favorite is the one with ray romanos dad. that one got me hooked on the show. so many great episodes though |
DanielNightLewis
10.10.13 | Squeeze/Tooms were the best monster of the week episodes by far. |
YoYoMancuso
10.10.13 | my favorite is the one with ray romanos dad
definitely in my top 5. My favorite is easily Pusher (aka the one where they play Russian Roulette) |
Let
04.12.15 | 1 rules so much, funniest episode out there. Would def include Post-Modern Prometheus and Clyde Bruckman in my top 10, prob even top 5 |
Parallels
04.12.15 | so glad someone took the time to make this list even if i disagree hard with it and an smh |
Insurrection
04.12.15 | i love small potatoes |
Parallels
04.12.15 | ^[2] yes
and bad blood |
Parallels
04.12.15 | just gonna drop for the sake of conversation that if Bryan Cranston was never in s6e2 Drive then Breaking Bad would never have existed |
Insurrection
04.12.15 | yup. those and arcadia were so funny. cant wait for this show to come back |
YoYoMancuso
04.12.15 | so hyped for the miniseries |
NakedSnake
04.12.15 | I remember catching a few episodes when I was younger at like 3 in the morning and them scarring me more than they probably should have. |
Insurrection
04.12.15 | home still gives me chills to this day |
Let
04.12.15 | Home is up there yeah, one of the best endings. Almost on season 6, looking forward to that Cranston ep. Never got the hype for Small Potatoes honestly, good ep but not amazing |
Rowan5215
04.12.15 | new ones soon fuck yeeeees |
ButteryBiscuitBass
04.12.15 | Best show ever |
zakalwe
04.12.15 | I wonder if Scullys collar matches cuffs? |
DrGonzo1937
04.12.15 | 1 is 1. |
KerfuffleinaHussle
04.12.15 | So pumped for the new season...On the whole I prefer the mythology based episodes but that said the individual episodes that are the best tend to be monster of the week ones. Its just that by the end of the series there were so many boring or downright shitty monster of the week episodes it got just ugh |
DrGonzo1937
04.13.15 | I remain firm that season 8 was a great season. Robert Patrick did a great job carrying on from David. |
Rowan5215
04.14.15 | Just remembering how much I fucking love this show after reading about the new one for about an hour, I can't recall anything in recent television that has me so excited
time to go on a binge rewatch methinks |
TalonsOfFire
04.14.15 | The mythology episodes are my favorite, I hope they conclude that plotline with this new season |
Rowan5215
04.14.15 | Chris has said the new stuff will be classic X-Files in format aka some MOTW and some Mythology |
DrGonzo1937
04.14.15 | Hopefully it'll completely forget about the last film. lol |
TalonsOfFire
04.14.15 | That was his big moment to make something really special and deal with the doomsday alien storyline, and completely blew it in favor of some hackneyed stand-alone episode type storyline. And what's with the final scene of Mulder and Scully sailing off to some island?? Have they forgotten about the impending invasion? |
ThrashTillDeath94
04.14.15 | Never saw any of the movies, but I did binge watch the entire series. It managed to stay fresh for most of it's run. I actually liked the John Dogget character, and thought the last season was pretty good. |
TalonsOfFire
04.14.15 | Seasons 7 and 9 were pretty hit-and-miss but the rest is gold. I would definitely recommend watching X-Files: Fight The Future, there's some pretty essential stuff about the mythology storyline in there, plus it's just great sci-fi horror |
DrGonzo1937
04.15.15 | 7 is terrible imo, but 8 & 9 are extremely underrated. It seems to me fans didn't like 8 & 9 because of the lack of David. But Patrick's character was just as engaging. In fact, some of the best writing in the entire show was in 8. |
ZombicidalMan
04.15.15 | I just got to Season 2, Squeeze is my favourite so far because it's terrifying. 8 was terrible, "Fuckin it's like the writers just took a anthro 101 class and wanted to make a statement" [2]
the only redeemable part was when the police show up and start asking questions and the consultant goes "I'm a professor of anthropology", and the cops leave him alone. lol |
Rowan5215
04.15.15 | 7 is tops pretty much throughout, I just watched En Ami and it's one of the best episodes of the entire season, so tense and layered
lot of other great episodes too
series 9 on the other hand is offensively middling and mediocre
8 is tops too agreed |
Rowan5215
04.15.15 | also DARIN MORGAN RETURNING FOR THE NEW ONE YAAAAAAASSSSS |
DrGonzo1937
04.15.15 | The last two episodes of 9 were a bloody mess. |
DrGonzo1937
04.15.15 | It's looking promising, dude. |
Dunpeal
04.15.15 | how is Home not in the top 5 at the very least? that's the only one that truly sticks in my mind to this day. I mean when you finally get what's going on under that bed and with whom/what. FLOORED |
Rowan5215
04.15.15 | there were some decent episodes all the way until the end but mixed in with a whole load of bullshit and filler that made season 9 leave that bad taste in the mouth. absolutely high hopes for the new one though, the modern setting + the Morgans' involvement sound like gold
@dun long time no talk dude
also Home is definitely one of the more memorable and grotesque episodes but it isn't nearly the most creative, emotional or well-made, hence it not making my personal top 5 anyways |
Dunpeal
04.15.15 | sup Rorobro
idk man, i can live without emotional. creative? i don't have a firm grasp on the whole series to accurately say. i mean i like the show, but was never a fanatic. Home was just one of those episodes that stuck with me. That one and that weird parasite thing that would fly up your ass as you were taking a shit |
Rowan5215
04.15.15 | sup dude, just on uni holidays atm, how bout you
idk the emotional core and the relationship between Mulder/Scully (one of the best-developed relations in all of TV imo) is what keeps me invested in the overall arc of the series (even when it got shit) and the creativity is what kept me interested in the week-to-week stuff. I'm a fanatic so yea
If you were just a sort of drifter watching the show without engaging that much I can totally understand how Home would be the one that sticks with you the most, but if you're a fanatic watcher like me there's a lot better to be found when you dig below the surface level of gore and br00tal incest |
Dunpeal
04.15.15 | cool man. I'm just grinding away at life. no complaints tho
scully always gave me a chubby tho, for sure |
Rowan5215
04.15.15 | Yeah she is my definition of a natural beauty fer sure |
Let
04.15.15 | She's still a total fox now |
Rowan5215
04.15.15 | glad that she's still getting good roles too, she's a pretty great actress, hannibal team represent |
DrGonzo1937
04.15.15 | But they got together.... worst move ever. |
DrGonzo1937
04.15.15 | Mulder and Scully I mean. haha |
