10.10.13 | And the saga continues!
You're on an Ambient spree man. If I were to listen to two albums out of those which do you think that they should be? |
Atari
10.10.13 | hey man not much just drinking coffee and gonna jam some stuff from this list. how you been? I've heard 12 and I remember liking it but haven't heard anything else. 10 sounds cool can't go wrong with some good singer/songwriter folk |
JamieTwort
10.10.13 | "You're on an Ambient spree man. If I were to listen to two albums out of those which do you think that they should be?"
Yeah really been into ambient stuff lately. Do you mean two albums out of the ambient ones or out of all of these? Assuming you mean the latter, I'd say check out 1 and 8. Coryell is one of my favourite jazz/fusion guitarists and I think you'd really like his style and 8 is some classic psych. |
CK
10.10.13 | So yeah you gotta rec this next time: http://doradorovitch.bandcamp.com/ |
JamieTwort
10.10.13 | @Atari: Sweet. I've been good thanks, I was away last week so wasn't on Sput that much. Yeah 10 is great, I'm a big fan of Pioulard, I particularly like the way he incorporates field recordings into his music. |
sumyunguy
10.10.13 | props for 1, call to the higher consciousness is amazing! never could get into 8, sounds like a jumbled, psychedelic mess, much like early 70's Sun Ra. Dave Stewart is god otherwise. |
JamieTwort
10.10.13 | @CK: I'll give it a listen at some point and who knows if I dig it I might include it on the next one.
@sumyunguy: Yeah that track rules. Really? I think it's some great trippy psych, Steve Hillage rules on that album. |
manosg
10.10.13 | @JamieTwort
Thanks man, I've added both to my list. |
JamieTwort
10.10.13 | Hey Cap, how's it going? |
Atari
10.10.13 | damn i'm digging 10 already. Have you heard Elliott Smith? I think you might dig him |
JamieTwort
10.10.13 | Yeah I have, there are definitely some similarities between the two but I prefer Pioulard due to the ambient influences in his
sound. His new album, Hymnal is also really good, it'll probably be pretty high on my 2013 list. |
Atari
10.10.13 | Cool, I'll prolly just check out his entire discog cause I'm digging it. And yeah this definitely sounds different than elliott smith i just hear some similarities in the vocals |
JamieTwort
10.10.13 | His whole discog is pretty consistent from what I've heard. He's also done some good collaborations, particularly the Praveen & Benoit EP, which is some great 'folktronica'. |
JamieTwort
10.10.13 | 7 needs more love. First track is one of the best drone/ambient pieces I've heard this year. |
evilford
10.10.13 | sweet list JT. my body won't let me stop metalling right now but I'll have to check some of the non-metal stuff soon
12 rules yeah |
ButteryBiscuitBass
10.10.13 | Awesome! Will crack on with some of these. Can't fault your taste. |
JamieTwort
10.10.13 | Thanks guys. Hope you find some stuff you like.
@Cap: Cool, yeah I'm good thanks bro |
menawati
10.10.13 | nice, will dive in at the weekend |
JamieTwort
10.10.13 | @mena: Sweet, #1 in particular should be right up your street.
Afraid not, Decaying. |
JamieTwort
10.10.13 | Same. It's a pretty good representation of the music too, colourful and psychedelic. I'm sure you'd dig it. |
joshuahuntkc
10.10.13 | 10 is my next review I think. |
JamieTwort
10.10.13 | Sweet, I was hoping you'd show up and see it on here. I'm looking forward to reading what you've got to say about it. |
joshuahuntkc
10.10.13 | I gotta give it one more solid listen but it's easily going to be a high 3.5 or a 4. If it hooks me next time could even be a 4.5 |
JamieTwort
10.10.13 | Cool. |
ResidentNihilist
10.10.13 | That Gimu album is awesome. Great list though I will rec you;
Markus Guentner - 1981/Doppelgaenger
Danny Kirwan - Second Chapter
Considering your tastes you should get a big kick out of both. |
JamieTwort
10.10.13 | Agreed, really digging Gimu at the moment. Thanks for the recs man. I've actually been meaning to check out that Danny Kirwan album seeing as I'm huge fan of of the Green-Kirwan Fleetwood Mac line-up. In fact I considered buying that album a while ago when I found it on vinyl but decided against it as it would have been a blind purchase as I haven't heard any of his solo stuff. |
ResidentNihilist
10.10.13 | Cool dude, if you get a chance also try Midnight In San Juan by Danny Kirwan as well. It's a bit more rock orientated than Second Chapter but just as good. |
JamieTwort
10.10.13 | Ok I'll probably check that one too. Just looked at Second Chapter on Rateyourmusic and I was surprised to see no blues in the genre tags. I guess his solo stuff is a bit of a departure from his sound during the Then Play On-era of Fleetwood Mac, which should be interesting to here. |
Rowan5215
10.11.13 | great list but doesn't look like much I would dig |
JamieTwort
10.11.13 | Thanks man. You might like 2 and maybe 10. |
Keyblade
10.11.13 | Yay. Gonna get 2 |
Rowan5215
10.11.13 | that's a lot of indecision but 2 does look appealing |
JamieTwort
10.11.13 | Sup Key. Cool, hope you dig.
@Rowan: Ok I'll be more decisive; you WILL like 2 and 10. |
Rowan5215
10.11.13 | ooooh now that's what I like to hear, thank you my good man |
osmark86
10.11.13 | nice dig on #8. listened to that a while back and it is pretty sweet. |
RadicalEd
10.11.13 | best lists on sputnik.
Dat funkadelic cover on 5 melts faces left and right. |
JamieTwort
10.11.13 | @osmark: Yeah that album rules, particularly the second half, those last two tracks are some epic psych.
"best lists on sputnik.
Dat funkadelic cover on 5 melts faces left and right."
Thanks Ed. Not just the cover, the album melts faces too (or EP I should say although it's near enough album length). |
RadicalEd
10.11.13 | 8 is great also. Very 1968-69 sounding, but not dated at all. |
JamieTwort
10.11.13 | Agreed. |
TheNotrap
10.11.13 | Arzachel is interesting. Pretty underground stuff.
Nice list JT. |
JamieTwort
10.11.13 | Cheers Notrap. |

10.11.13 | Good list, Jamie. Been digging 2 for a minute now. |
JamieTwort
10.11.13 | Thanks man. Glad you're digging 2. |
Ecnalzen
10.12.13 | Awww, yeah, another JamieTwort list. I pretty much always find something I like in these. |
JamieTwort
10.12.13 | Glad you're enjoying these lists :] |
RunOfTheMill
10.12.13 | sweet, will check some of these. Warfare Noise sounds awesome too |
CosmicPie
10.12.13 | I need to check some of these. You've got good taste. |
JamieTwort
10.12.13 | @Run: Yeah Warfare Noise is awesome if you like raw, old school Brazilian thrash/early dm.
Thanks Cosmic. |
Jethro42
10.12.13 | What Cosmic said. |
JamieTwort
10.12.13 | Hey Jethro, I think you'd definitely like #1. |
Jethro42
10.12.13 | I'll definitely check it out, thanks! |
Jethro42
11.18.13 | 10 is a great album
Still have to check out 1 |
joshuahuntkc
11.18.13 | Good to hear you dug 10 |
JamieTwort
11.18.13 | Glad you liked it Jethro. |
JamieTwort
11.18.13 | Wait, looking at your recent ratings it seems you said that round the wrong way seeing as you have 1 rated but not 10. Either way I'm glad you liked the one you checked out ;) |
Jethro42
11.18.13 | Yeah I've just finished to listen to Larry Coryell, and I already rated Benoit Pioulard couple weeks ago. |
JamieTwort
11.18.13 | Oh right sweet, my mistake.
Glad you enjoyed both of them then. |
Jethro42
11.18.13 | I want to re-listen to Pioulard just to make sure that my rating is legit. I gave it 3.5 after two spins. It's a big 3.5 for now. |
JamieTwort
11.18.13 | Cool, that album gets better with repeated listens, well it did for me anyway. |
joshuahuntkc
11.18.13 | It did for me as well. It takes time to hear the songs for what they are outside of the atmosphere I thought. |
Jethro42
11.18.13 | @JT & Josh; That's what I heard, so I have to verify. |
