11.09.13 | On The Run is in my top 3 Floyd songs and no one ever seems to talk about it or give it justice so that prompted me to make this list. |
sleepysilverdoor
11.09.13 | I don't know if it's really underrated, but Cluster One. |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | 1 and 5 are some of their worst songs imo
props for 2 though, definitely underrated |
30secondstocydonia
11.09.13 | How is On the Run one of their worst? Listen to it with high quality headphones... synth jizz fest. |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | because it's unnecessary and outstays it's welcome? |
Chrisjon89
11.09.13 | love 3 |
30secondstocydonia
11.09.13 | I think it contributes greatly to the whole feeling of madness and insanity in Dark Side of the Moon. Also its only 3 minutes long or so. |
JokineAugustus
11.09.13 | Needs wots uh the deal |
demigod!
11.09.13 | bike |

Rowan5215
11.09.13 | Stay is probably my #1 pick for most underrated |
SIMBOLIC
11.09.13 | many people say money is one of the woprst on dark side
i find it one of my fav floyd songs |
SIMBOLIC
11.09.13 | yeah fearless hard summer 69 as well |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | Money works brilliantly as an individual song but in the overall scheme of Dark Side it's towards the bottom yea |
guitarded_chuck
11.09.13 | Stay agreed and Childhood's End |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | Summer 68* but yes good pick
Childhood's End agreed
Also Paintbox definitely deserves a mention |
EverythingEvil2113
11.09.13 | The Nile Song, hard rock Pink Floyd. |
StallionMang
11.09.13 | Let There Be More Light
Biding My Time |
StallionMang
11.09.13 | Grandchester Meadows |
dmp3131
11.09.13 | Not sure how "underrated" it may be but Us and Them is one of my favorites |
StallionMang
11.09.13 | Any Colour You Like probably the most underrated Dark Side track. |
evilford
11.09.13 | 4 is one of my fav Floyd songs
Not even sure you could call on the run a "song" |
StallionMang
11.09.13 | Of course it's a song, an awesome song at that. |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | I've got nicotine stains on my fingers
I've got a silver spoon on a chain
Got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains |
JamieTwort
11.09.13 | Two Suns in the Sunset and The Gunner's Dream are probably the two most underrated Floyd songs imo. Surprised no one in this thread has mentioned any songs from TFC. |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | that's probably because TFC actually gets the love it deserves on Sput |
JamieTwort
11.09.13 | True but in general (and based on its average rating) it's criminally underrated. |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | oh yeah the average is ridiculous but there's plenty of us here who give it enough love for it not to be underrated I reckon |
JamieTwort
11.09.13 | If in this situation we're basing the underrated term purely on Sputnik opinion then yeah you're probably right. |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | yeah that's why I said "plenty of us here"
outside of Sput it's ridiculously underrated |
Artuma
11.09.13 | FEARLESS |
JamieTwort
11.09.13 | Alongside multiple tracks from The Final Cut, I'd say these are their most underrated:
Fearless (although I think this one does get quite a bit of love)
A Pillow of Winds
Childhood's End
The Gold It's In The... |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | As I said above literally the whole of Obscured qualifies, and Green is the Colour is another strong one |
Artuma
11.09.13 | coming back to life
absolutely curtains
your possible pasts
waiting for the worms
alan's psychedelic breakfast
set the controls for the heart of the sun |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | If we're talking Div Bell then Wearing the Inside Out and Lost for Words |
evilford
11.09.13 | TFC rules agreed should have mentioned it. I think there are more Floyd fans who look at it as a bastard album than Floyd fans who enjoy it. I love it. By this logic, pretty much any song from TFC would be an underrated Floyd song but here are my votes
The Fletcher Memorial Home (so hard)
Two Suns in the Sunset
Your Possible Pasts
When the Tigers Broke Free |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | IN THE FLETCHER MEMOOOORIAL
HOME FOR COLOOOOONIAL WASTERS
OF LIFE
AND LIMB |
evilford
11.09.13 | some of my fav lyrics right there god I love Roger |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | best lyricist of all time agreed, love him to death despite his cuntish nature |
JamieTwort
11.09.13 | I don't really like When The Tigers Broke Free. It's easy to see why it was left off the original album (imo). |
evilford
11.09.13 | Also yeah would add
Let there be more light
Corporal clegg
Pow r toc h
The gold it's in the...
Wot's...uh the deal
Childhood's end |
JamieTwort
11.09.13 | Also The Fletcher Memorial is definitely one of the best on TFC but I didn't mention it as underrated as it's probably the song that receives the most recognition on that album. |
Artuma
11.09.13 | agreed with jamie |
evilford
11.09.13 | "I don't really like When The Tigers Broke Free. It's easy to see why it was left off the original album (imo)."
It doesn't really fit the flow of the album. In the context of the wall (which it was originally written for) and/or TFC, there's not really a great place to put it. But in and of itself I fucking love it. The atmosphere, the lyrics, the way it's put together, that scathing sarcasm that no one but Roger is capable of
And Rowan, I don't think Roger has a cuntish nature at all. I think some relationships soured and he definitely made some poor choices and has since acknowledged that. He can be uppity I guess but fuck it I love him so hard
|
evilford
11.09.13 | Very true Jamie but that's why I kind of explained myself beforehand; overall the album isn't generally loved at all so that's kind of how I qualify TFMH as an underrated Floyd song but yeah if any song on the album wouldn't be considered underrated cuz of the love it gets its prob that, I just love TFC so any chance I get to plug it I'm gonna do it :D |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | I think he certainly had some egotistical issues even if he's made up for it now but whatever
I've almost certainly asked this before but have you heard Amused to Death? |
evilford
11.09.13 | Long time ago, need to listen again |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | oh man please do
the female vocal part in Perfect Sense, Part 1 is actually the best thing I've ever heard |
JamieTwort
11.09.13 | Damn, you really love Amused to Death don't you? I don't think I'll ever like that album anywhere near as much as you do. It has about as many flaws as The Wall imo. Still good though. |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | It's just a hair off a 5, lyrically my favourite album ever, and I prefer it to the Wall and TFC
seriously you do know that part in Perfect Sense that I'm yabbering about right? |
JamieTwort
11.09.13 | Yeah I do but no amount of female vocals could make up for the things I don't like about it. Lyrically it doesn't appeal to me anywhere near as much as The Final Cut. The lyrics in some parts serve as prime examples as to why I could never consider Water's as my favourite lyricist (even though his lyrics on TFC and Animals are some of my favourite ever). |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | :0 we're destined to never agree it seems but you can't deny the powah of
AND THE GERMANS KILL THE JEWS AND THE JEWS KILL THE ARABS AND THE ARABS KILL THE HOSTAGES AND THAAAAT IS THE NEEEEEWS |
JamieTwort
11.09.13 | Powerful yes but for me far from lyrical perfection. I find the lyrics in Two Suns in the Sunset for example to be far more interesting. But it's all subjective of course :] |
Rowan5215
11.09.13 | Never said it was lyrical perfection, did I? Yeah Two Suns in the Sunset has like my favourite closing line ever but still |
JamieTwort
11.09.13 | No I wasn't saying you did say that, what I meant was although lyrics such as that are conceptually quite powerful they aren't as well conceived (or as close to perfection) as the lyrics in, say, Two Suns in the Sunset. That goes for the majority of the Amused to Death album for me. |
SIMBOLIC
11.09.13 | woah its weird seeing a song with "colour" spelled correctly |
evilford
11.09.13 | Color or colour are both acceptable |
