04.10.08 | Both of Lost Horizon's albums for Power Metal. Kamelot is also ace for power metal. As for Symphonic Power Metal, get Nightwish. Anything will suffice. Century Child, Once, and Dark Passion Play are their most symphonic too. After Forever and Therion are good symphonic bands as well. |
willfellmarsy

04.10.08 | I really can't comment on the first three any better than everyone else already has, so I'll just say this: Nightwish's "Once" owns.
Hmmm...the last two? You'll never go wrong with a classic album like "Pet Sounds" or any of the Beatles. Also, I tend to favor Simon & Garfunkel's "Bookends." Of course, if you meant something more modern in pop music, I'm usleless...
Punk...oh, boy, where to begin? Well, if it's Pop-punk you want, grab some of Blink's older works, or The Ramones...or The Clash. Skater pop-punk, gotta be NOFX or '00's-era Bad Religion. Screaming Hardcore punk, try Boysetsfire's earlier works (up to "Tomorrow Come Today"), or Refused, or Death By Stereo. Melodic hardcore punk, any of Bad Religion's work in the 80's. Other punk bands to look into: Propaghandi, Pennywise, Dropkick Murphy's, The Offspring...those are all the more popular ones, I suppose
That's all I got for now. Hope that helps a bit (probably doesn't). |
