Concert Aftermath

Still pissed off I didn't get General Admittance tickets for this thing and had to sit down but nevertheless 9.5/10 amazing concert
1 Brody Dalle
whatever she's released

We deliberately arrived late and missed this, which I'm thankful for. The second we sat down QOTSA started playing which was freakily good timing.
2Queens of the Stone Age
Songs for the Deaf

I have almost no complaints about this. Every member of the band was ridiculously on point and tight, especially Homme who sounded his absolute best and Theodore who was pounding like a motherfucker all night. The setlist was: 1. Millionaire 2. No One Knows 3. Avon 4. My God is the Sun 5. Burn the Witch 6. Smooth Sailing 7. Vampyre 8. If I Had A Tail 9. Little Sister 10. I Sat by the Ocean 11. Kalopsia 12. Feel Good Hit 13. I Appear Missing 14. Make it Wit Chu 15. Sick, Sick, Sick 16. Go with the Flow and 17. A SONG FOR THE MOTHERFUCKING DEAD. Incredibly pleased with the songs I got, especially 7 out of 10 Like Clockwork songs which isn't bad at all. Would've killed for Better Living through Chemistry though. Hearing A Song for the Dead without Lanegan was strange, and the same re Millionaire without Oliveri, but Homme nailed it anyways.
3Queens of the Stone Age
Rated R

Favourite song of the setlist: I Appear Missing. This one was almost twice the album length because the final jam section extended for so long, with Homme and Van Leeuueuewen just going absolutely mental on the guitars. Runners-up: A Song for the Dead and Burn the Witch. The former was still incredible sans Lanegan and had like three false stops where they stopped playing for about 20 seconds, let the crowd cheer, and then burst back out. Cheeky bastards. And Burn the Witch was just... Burn the Witch. Overall rating: 9.5/10. Some surprises in the setlist like Avon and Sick, Sick, Sick, but overall I needed some more Rated R.
4Nine Inch Nails
The Downward Spiral

Once again, my friend and I sat down literally the second they came onto the stage. Once was cool, but twice was almost freaky. I was pretty worried beforehand about how Trent would be holding up nowadays considering his age, but the dude's voice was on top form and his energy bounding around the stage was absolutely unmatched. Setlist: 1. Copy of A 2. Survivalism 3. Terrible Lie 4. March of the Pigs 5. Piggy 6. The Frail 7. The Wretched 8. The Warning 9. Came Back Haunted 10. All Time Low 11. The Big Come Down 12. Gave Up 13. Ice Age (HTDA cover with Mariqueen singing) 14. BBB (same as Ice Age) 15. Wish 16. The Hand That Feeds 17. Head like a Hole 18. Hurt. Some amazing shit there, the start and end of the set especially were incredible. I'm not a fan of the Hesitation Marks songs so much, although Copy of A got them started nicely; if they had've replaced them with some more older tunes eg Mr. Self Destruct or the Becoming these dudes could've easily lived up to QOTSA. The way they translated the electronics to onstage was amazing and when they belted in out, it was ear destroying. Oh and the light show, well, I've never seen anything quite like it. As it stood with the setlist, 9/10.

Favourite song of the setlist: Would have to be Hurt. Half of the sitting area had to have been standing up at this point and singing along with everyone in the stadium was some moving shit. Couldn't believe it was even happening. Runners-up: Survivalism was absolutely incredible, with the guitars absolutely exploding when the chorus came in. Same with Head Like A Hole; although Trent can't do the screams anymore and delegated those the guitarist, both choruses of this song are unmatched in their sing-along-ability. And finally Wish, which was easily the most energetic song of the night and picked things up a bit after the mediocre Hesitation Marks songs, and the HTDA ones which while great seemed a bit out of place. In conclusion, both bands can put on a fucking show.
