Creme De La Creme

There are a few bands (Radiohead, the Beatles, etc.) with such an impressive catalog that picking a favorite is difficult, almost impooible. And one person's preferences drastically differ from others, which is a testament to the bands greatness. So I have picked a few extremely well-accepted and popular bands, and listed by favorite album by them.
1Radiohead
Amnesiac

Okay, so this is probably the most controversial pick of the list. Despised by many, loved by a select few, and shucked aside as an afterthought by most. Most people I have talked to either list Ok or Kid A as their favorites, and while these are classic and essential albums to own, Amnesiac clicked with me like no other. When I listen to it, I feel as if I am in my childhood house's attic, going through a dresser and finding secrets that didnt belong to me. Many people complain that Amnesiac is fragmented and doesnt flow well. But this is one of the reasons I love it so much. It just keeps you guessing as to what will come next.
2The Beatles
Abbey Road

I've been listening to the Beatles practically my whole life, and consider them arguably the best band to ever exist. This is one of the first "albums" by them I heard, I started out listening to my dad's greatest hits collection. I've fallen in love with everyone of their albums at different times, listening to that record exclusively for months at a time. But when I listen to them now, this is the only one that truely sticks with me. Pepper is dominated by the "paul" sound, and the white album sound too disjointed and sounds like a blue print for "plastic ono band". However, Abbey Road nailed the balance perfectly. Every song is an instant classic. It sounds like a band at the height of their abilities, confidant, and gelling with one another perfectly. One of the few albums I consider flawless.
3Elliott Smith
Either/Or

No big surprises here, most people sight this as the best Elliott work. From the very first time I heard it, I was trasfixed. I listened to it about 6 times that night, relishing every minute of the pure pop brilliance, catchy melodies, crooning double tracked vocals, and lyrics I related to completely. Anyone can listen to this and fall in love.
4Led Zeppelin
Physical Graffiti

I don't know how to explain this one, its the only zep album I can listen to all the way through. I'm not a huge fan of these guys, but I know that the best zep album debate is hotly contested. Just my two cents on the subject.
5Nirvana
In Utero

This seems to be the sound that Nirvana was aiming for all along. Bleach was too raw and unthought out, nevermind was too trendy, but In Utero hit it just right for me. An album that showcases all their influences, though the most prevelant here is punk. Every song on here, especially the odd ones are brilliant brainchild's of nirvana's tortured mindset, yet the radio and pop friendly sound remains intact.
